New Carvin Vanquish Basses

Yeah that's a hot look. Definitely one of my top 5 looks so far, for the Vanquish.



That's the "Icon" headstock. Which is standard on the "Icon" bass. You can also get it on the PB, SB, and B.



Rickenbacker is one of the "Iconic" basses I had in mind, which features an "unbalanced" body design ; )

I think the Vanquish looks cool and the fatness to the upper horn with a somewhat off-set look from the lower horn is common design queue for Carvin (look at their other bolt-ons, they all have a similar based to the upper horn). Others have done something like that, however. Ibanez RD and Yamaha's BB come to mind. Anyway, they have several other body styles which are pretty balanced in appearance. The Bromberg signature model is probably one of the most "balanced" and cohesive designs on the market, period. The LB is a classic, balanced look. The PB takes a couple of subtle style liberties, but is otherwise a pretty "balanced" design.

Ricks do have an odd design, no doubt.

Looks like it's a clear coat over flamed maple that has undergone their deep stain process.

EDIT: Yes, on Invalid Link Removed it says it's a walnut body, flamed maple top, deep triple stain finish under a satin clear finish.

I like the fatter upper horn, it gives the whole bass a "sturdier" look. The BB and LB look so thin and delicate to me. I like that the horn just points up instead of curving up like the SB, and the fatness makes it less phallic looking than say a Warwick Corvette. It's a nice design, the bevel and 2tone options are just a little odd looking to me. I love the solid and burst colors on it. Different strokes...

I've seen different people commenting on how they like these with different finishes. Which I think means it is a successful design. It seems to suit the imaginations of prospective customers.

I like the general idea of the bevel and two tone or tri-tone possibilities.

So far, I like the two tone woood options, the solid transparents, and the burst. I think that means it is a versatile design!

I don't really care for the solid white/black/silver. But I do think it would look really cool in gloss candy red metallic.

Well now, that IS a good question.

And how do they play?

My guess - they play fine and sound like a bass with two pickups. This bass actually seems like it's trying to sell to the hard rock market (like the other new one they have, the "xxcellerator" - gaaa I hate that name) but bolt-on, rather than neck-through.

I expect I'll drive up the factory to check one out - it's near my company's factory.

I called Carvin today about the Vanquish. The guy told me there are 300+ on order already. 9 week delivery and counting. Said VDOs are coming soon.

I really hope Carvin does great with these. Sadly, the lack of the MM or split pickup option keeps me from ordering a 4 string and lack of 35" scale keeps me from ordering a 5 string but I know they can't pander to everybody.

i see it now. im really wondering if access to the 24th fret on these will be an issue due to the chunky heel and the cutaway
