New Carvin Vanquish Basses

I ordered an X54 two weeks ago, and emailed my sales rep yesterday to ask if I could still get the antique ash treatment. He said they already started the build and Id have to start a new build and pay a change fee, plus $100 for the treatment, so I decided against it. It looks like they put some fake scuff marks on the yellow one in this thread, and I asked if they could do the antique ash treatment without any fake relic marks. The answer was yes. I think its similar to their deep triple step, where the first paint step is dark, and then they sand off the top layer so the grain stands out more.

Wow! This finish is sweet!!

Pretty sharp! The body bevelling reminds me of the old Ibanez Studio series. The body shape actually reminds me a bit of Ibanez' more recent models.

19mm spacing is long overdue, IMO. Now if Carvin would make a 5 with a wider nut I'd be all over it. I can live with the 34" scale (although I'd rather it was 35"), but a 1.77" nut is just too narrow for my clumsy little digits.

The four-stringers, on the other hand... Hmmm... might end up my gas list. After fretless LB-70 and AC-40, that is!

I just really wish Carvin would get on board with wideness. I asked them once if they would make a six-string, but lay out the headstock like a 5er, but they wouldn't do it. Their 6s would make perfect 5s for me!

My favorite part about Carvin is no matter what cool model they come out with, immediately there is someone posting, "if they would have just done this asinine thing that I desire it would be a good bass, but since they didn't, Carvin still sucks" :D

The very bottom one, with a rosewood board with the same inlays, I would rock silly. Wow, what a nice looking design / color scheme.

About time you stop pandering to the P&J folks Carvin. Forge your own path. BIG step forward from one of not two recent steps back.

That's me, except for the 'Carvin still sucks' bit. I'm actually glad they do some things I don't care for, otherwise I'd have waaaay to many basses. I already have 3 Carvin basses and a Carvin rig for chrissakes....

Though if they ever do shortscale 7 string fanned fret half-fretless with 3 tappable humbuckers with real Panda Fur as a finish option, I would definitely think about buying one. If it came left handed.
