New Curbow Progress

Tell Greg to step on it !!!! Wait never mind that, he should take his sweet time with this beauty. Sweet Holy Moses, this is probably hands down one of the coolest looking tops I have seen yet. Seeing the clearcoat and the shine is what iced the cake for me.

I've been telling Greg to step on it for ovcer 14 months now. I'm just glad that the bass has gotten this far. :p

Is that an Alnico or Ceramic MM ? I have the Ceramic in 2 of my basses and I am planning to switch to the Alnico since they are a bit warmer and darker. The Ceramic has been too bright for my pathetic tastes.

I'm not quite sure now that you mention it. My first Lakland had the Barts, and I hated the warm tone, so Dan swapped them out for the SD Basslines. I don't really know which ones they are! They were very agressive sounding and my next Lakland had the same, so I'm guessing these are the same as well. Do the twoo types look different?

The Basslines MM's look similar. One just is Alnico like the old school MM basses and the other is a more common ceramic version. I believe an "a" and "c" after the model number represent the style. Way cool choice on pickups.

I wonder if someone is taking 14 months on a bass if that means you get 14 months to get the money together !!!?? Now that is something I could handle but most want 1/2 down.

Such a cool top to a cool bass !!!!!!!!!!!

Ok then, HURRY IT UP GREG !!!! :)

Thanks. I sent Greg the electronics as soon as I got them, so I never really got a chance to see a model number. Either way, judging from my old Lakland's tone, this will sound just as nice.

You're right, the only positive about waiting 14+ months for the bass is being able to save up during that time. Problem is, during that time, I've ordered 3 other basses!

All this Nordstrand talk is getting very tempting...
Plus, I think my wife has finally lost her mind. She went shopping (again) yesterday, so I threatened to go out and buy another bass even though I've got two being built right now and she said "Good. I think you should if it makes you happy." What the heck is that?!!?!??

A very good wife!!!! ;)

UGH! I REALLY should have kept that piece of wood for myself.

I'm going to be ill...;)

Seriously, that thing looks amazing. I can't wait to see the final project. I need to make a serious effort to get to his shop before it's shipped off.

Congrats!

I've been speaking with Joe from Greg's shop, who I guess is now in charge of my bass project. For whatever reason, it's impossible to even speak to Greg anymore when you call...

Anyway, the hardware, electronics, and pickups should be assembled to the body around Tuesday and I'm hoping for a picture then.
After that, it's just a matter of the neck being finished and and put on the body, so I'm hoping another 2 weeks until it's here, but as Mike said, that estimate could be WAY off.
