New dog. New day!

Earlier this year, we lost a special friend of 12 years, our dog Barkley. It was a tragic loss that made quarantine that much harder.

Fast forward 6-months and we now have a new addition to the family. He’s a mix between King Charles Cavalier Spaniel and Poodle (commonly called a Cavapoo or Cavadoodle). His name is Beau (Beauregard) and he’s awesome.

He’s a great little guy with tons of personality and puppy-dog eyes that will melt your heart. And he responds to music, so that’s a plus.

Just wanted to share, in case there are any dog-loving bassists out there.

Speaking of new dogs . . . .

My mother has an older Corgi and my father doesn't want anything to do with it because it randomly barks for no apparent reason. It's also frequently incontinent.

He installed an indoor gate so he could reserve part of the house for himself where the dog couldn't get to.

Last month, my mother sneaked in a new puppy, hoping he somehow wouldn't notice. Amazingly, it was almost 2 weeks before dad figured it out. I was there to see it. The look on his face was priceless as he slowly processed what he was seeing and came to the realization that there was an extra dog living under his roof.

We actually investigated that. The local humane society has a few bulldogs. We were looking for another small dog that doesn't shed. So a crossbreed was the answer. Unfortunately, they can get pretty pricey.

My folks have had a series of dogs since they were first married, more than 50 years ago. They always get mutts and I don't think they've ever had to pay for one since they always get dogs that others don't want. I really like mutts.

Your "Cavapoo" mix is super adorable.

That dog has eyes that can talk you into anything. You didn’t say if it is still a puppy, or full grown dog...

I don’t understand all the new cross breeds lately being expensive.
I’ve had a lot of mixed breed mutts - and they were great dogs, that I got for free. I had a half German Shepard/half St.Bernard. Had a half Poodle/half Scottish Terrier. Had a half Poodle/half Dachshund. They were all free.
I’ve only ever paid money for purebred dogs. But, I expect my dogs to be working animals that earn their keep.
