New EB Cobalt Flats?

Ok, so I put a set of these EB Flatwound cobalt's (super slinky 45-100) on my Precision and I've got nothing but praise for them. Too me, I find them as smooth as Chromes with looser tension, very similar to GHS Pressurewounds tension . I didn't have to do any sort of adjustments after putting these on my P. The tone is similar to a set of worn in rounds. I just hope they can keep that sort of quality sound for a long time. Very impressed with them.

Haven't looked through this thread in a while but has anybody had a rust like corrosion process happen to their cobalt flats? It literally looks like somebody ate a bag of chocolate dusted almonds and then played my p-bass.

Already the first week with these cobalt flats and I've noticed how very deep and faint leveled they are as I was honestly expecting them to be bright as the video I've seen of these strings. Not too sure if it could be my bass with a poor output level but if that's the case then I might need to start pickup shopping..

I'm slightly disappointed but they sound good in Latin songs!

What bass? If you're getting low output with cobalt strings, the strings aren't the problem.

Changed from Chromes to the Cobalt flats and find the Cobalts a little more comfortable in terms of tension. Great tone similar to the Chromes but will need to wait a while to hear how they sound when they're broken in and settled. So far, really liking them.

Humidity always between 45-55. Never had a problem with "my salts" corroding other strings before either with or without a wipe. The strings are even rusting where I never play (19th and up frets on the e and a strings).

I was going to put these on my Sandblasted Precision but the Pure Blues on it weren't ready for retirement just yet. I ended up putting them on my Dee Dee Ramone. Wow! :woot: I like them just fine. Very full sounding. Nice to have an aggressive sounding flat.

I recorded this using 2 sets of Cobalt flats. Bear in mind that this model of bass uses Alnico 2 pickups which are warmer than standard Jazz pickups.

Great demo! I wouldn't say that one sounds better than the other. The rosewood is warmer, of course, and it doesn't have the maple snap. They just sound, well... different, two flavours of a great tone!

Had my A string break at the ball end last night on my Jack Casady bass. Just put them on about a week ago. Just playing as normal and snap! I'm done with Cobalts! First the D string on installation and now this. It's a shame because they sounded incredible on the Casady.
