New EB Cobalt Flats?

It's an Ernie Ball policy, that extends to their guitars as well. If you're in Croatia and want to buy an new Ernie Ball product, you'll have to buy from a local dealer, or a EU based web retailer. It's the same thing with Fender, and other companies that have separate distributors in the EU and the USA, they usually don't allow private importing of their products.

So, Bass Strings Online can't sell Ernie Ball strings to someone in Europe. If they did, they'd lose their dealership contract.

Interesting, I had no problem buying EB strings (slinky) from Strings and Beyond. I guess they have a different deal with EB. Too band they don't stock slinky flatwounds. Oh well, I might hunt them down on ebay or something.

Yes, they probably do.

And I might add, that what I said in my previous post, might not apply to Ernie Ball's strings. It does apply to their basses, though, so I just thought it'd be the same for strings. Seems as if it isn't, or at least, as if there might be exceptions to the rule.

You can try Denatured alcohol or 90 percent or higher isopropyl.

I wipe them down w/ denatured alcohol, dry, then anchor the ball end on a nail shank or something. Then scrub on all sides , full length with new green or red Scotch Brite pad. Wipe down again with denatured alcohol.
No more stickies.

Prob tooling residue- D'Addario strings sometimes have black residue on them as well, usually Chromes. It prob serves as a metal finish protector/corrosion inhibitor as well.

Probably, unless you (like some others) have a nickel or cobalt reaction with finger acids.
If not, it will eventually go away if not cleaned first.

I had absolutely no problem putting these directly on and playing. They're fine; no stickiness, residue, etc.

I've used Cobalt Flats on about all my basses over the last 2 years and lately I've not had issues with new sets being sticky. I did see some stickiness back when they first came out but it quickly went away. Very good sounding string in a live band setting.

Just got a set of these for my jazz and so far I love the sound,and feel of these strings! I like how they tame the highs without losing the highs, (if that even makes since). Gonna see how they settle out over the next month and if they don't start to thud out too much, I'm gonna switch my alembic over to these as well.

IME they never lost their highs. maybe they lost 10% and then pretty much stayed there.

I'm now enjoying these strings better than my first impressions. It's as a shame they are so expensive in the UK.
