New EB Cobalt Flats?

They are definitely full toned and the top end wasn't necessarily to much for me. I generally like a little less top ens anyways. The only reason I quit using them after a couple years is they are known for being a little rough on your frets. I didn't notice any excessive wear through many gigs and hours of playing. They are great sounding strings though.
we must think alike. The dunlops are what I was thinking of trying. I don't know how "bright" super brights are. Are they responsive to tone controls? It's been so long since I've been in the try try try stings mode. lol. Now i'm super curious dunlop vs. cobalt rounds. Mind you though won't take the flats off my jazz 4
Dunlops are very responsive. They are very warm despite the name. Little bit of a mid scoop, great fat bottom end and wonderful G string. My go to round for a long time. Sounds marvelous in the studio. But I ordered a set of cobalt rounds by mistake when I meant to order flats, so I am going to try them out instead of returning them
They have a very stainless steel round kind of sound but it's more refined yet they're aggressive at the same time. I'd say very balanced and punchy with a very musical zing and good mid growl as well.
@PhatRon - I tried the Superbright Nickels and wasn't very impressed by them. Obviously opinions vary greatly on TB from string to string but for me they didn't do it. I haven't tried the SS version or the Marcus Miller's either so those might be worth a shot.

They're nice strings, but calling them Super Brights sets up expectations that aren't borne out. If they had called them Super Fulls, that might be more accurate, and might reduce the number of players (like me) who wind up befuddled by them.

Are they available in a heavy 5 string set or individual? Every time I look they are not available thick (130, 110, 90, 75, 55) like the Group I flats.
wipe them down with an alcohol wipe...and play. An hour later and stickiness was gone for me.

I can't help you on the tension of the GHS Flats but the Cobalts are a step up tension wise from the TI Flats. The Chromes are a step up from the Cobalts being the most tension I've seen in flats. The Cobalts are perfect tension for me and not nearly as bad as the TI's are known for.
I've been using a set on my fretless jazz for about 9 months. Very happy so far. The initial top end brightness has mellowed but the mid definition is still there and they are cutting though really well. They react really well to the bridge pickup with plenty of bite, more than traditional flats anyway.
I play with a pick about 75% of the time (still trying to get the fingers thing down) so I don't like floppy, but I want a little bit of zing, chromes may be it
they are not stiff cables but not floppy at all. personally I don't think a problem with a pick
I've tried Chromes 2 different times but never really took to them. They are not near as bright as Cobalts. Cobalts will give the same tension as most roundwounds and should be fine for pick playing.
even if you don't like them you can recoup partial cost here on TB in a heart beat. for some reason i've seen members here going to heavier gauges when going to flats. I'm here to say i've stayed with 100-80-60-40 and you heard how they sounded on the recording. just sayin'
I just threw some cobalts on my Ibanez guitar & really like them. I might put cobalts on my RIC when I change from Dunlop Super Brights.
