I just received the BassIQ Blue Label a couple of days ago. In the past I have owned the MXR BEF, 3 Leaf Audio Wonderlove and Proton (v3).

It is actually almost smaller than a regular MXR pedal. It has more features and sounds more open/clear/hifi than the previous edition. It reminds me a bit of the Proton in that respect but with a wider tonal palette. I was able to approximate the Up sound of its previous edition by using mode UP-R and filter in LP however with a slightly different decay. I still have to spend more time exploring all the switches and in combination with an octaver but for now I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Yeah, with the newly added Q knob, the BassIQ can get very wet.

How you liking the pedal so far? I still have the MXR BEF on my board, I tried Aguilar Filter Twin yesterday and AB'ed both pedals, but still prefer BEF. That said, I'm starting to look at other envelope filters as BEF can get peaky and have spikes and can be a bit too squacky-quacky or push out serious sub tones. Basically, unpredictable at times. Would love a 70s style funky envelope.

I use the mxr BEF alot for sub tones. Even compared to the dod fx25 it definitely works.

Subs!!!!

Other way....filter into fuzz or OD. That way you get the nuances of the filter kicking the dirt pedals.

;)

Fuzz and OD usually covered my filter effect, or gave it a more harsh tone when feeding filter into them. Other way gives a more pronounced filter, I guess more of a synthy tone as the fuzz/OD feeds into it. I do have a Phat Phuk B after a filter though. Might experiment a bit more with OD/Fuzz/Filter order.

Yeah, I still like it a lot and will keep it. I am finding that it complements very well the Black Label version by extending the sound range to the MXR BEF but without sounding laserly and causing those high spikes and hard to control subs.YMMV.

EBS are making me question my bass effect choice of Boss GT-1B. The bassist in my band has a trio of EBS: envelope, octave and chorus. The Boss unit sounds ok on the various modulations, but those EBS sound stellar. The envelope and octave in particular.
