New Electro-Harmonix Ravish Sitar

Exactly. Anyone can make a delay pedal or a distortion pedal. With most of their effects, they tend to go just a little bit left of center, to way off.

I got a Micro Synth, Bass Balls, Enigma Q-balls, and a HOG. I'm not finding a good use for the HOG on bass, but all the rest are staples now, especially the micro synth. Also, when I do play guitar, the HOG is KILLER for it, so it's gotta stay, too!

What do you got?

Q-Balls is something I'm always looking at in the shops, but since I use a smaller board for now, I can't fit it in.

I have :

- Memory Boy delay (which I loaned to my guitarist brother, I haven't found a use for delay on bass in our band's set-up);

- Bassballs, which I had modded. Absolutely in love with that one;

- Bass Big Muff, sufficient for my limited very limited fuzz needs;

- Small Stone : probably my best EHX purchase. Decent phaser for bass;

- Neo Clone, which I bought 'cause I can't go for the Analogman stuff at this time. Much warmer than the CEB-3 I've been using, but a little loss of volume and low-end. Works better when looped with a blender (LS-2 for me).

Pog2 is also interesting....but again with the size. But what does the future hold ? Ya never know, right ?

The videos were all pretty bad, especially the one where the guy was playing through an Electric Mistress at the same time. That said, I'm also curious to try it out in a store, to see just how it sounds on bass. My use for it would be more in getting the drone and sympathetic, probably on a second channel, rather than trying to play sitar. Maybe loop some lead sitar lines on D and G, but I'm definitely interested in trying it out at least. If I hate it, that will be okay with me as I still have to save for the POG 2 I'm GASsing for. (Gotta have that organ sound! And I did try the POG2 out, and it got me organ and cello with no trouble, and sounded REAL.)

:hmm: I don't anticipate getting this now at all. We'll see how it performs when I try it, though. The dry with sympathetic did not sound very sitarish, and would probably be much much less convincing on bass, so an unlikely purchase for me at this point. The good news is, that's more money I can save toward a POG2. That I have tried, and the organ sounded :eek: on bass.

I think there could be a lot of uses for this on a bass. I gassed as soon as I saw it. Add a little chorus and some fuzz on top with a 50/50 signal or split to another amp with a high pass filter, use just the drone strings to emulate a 8 or 12 string bass, run a parallel loop with this on one side and an octaver on the other, I bet you could even make it give your fretted bass a little mwah like a fretless. You could fill so much sonic space with this that extended range players could get rid of their guitarist.

Iwas GASsing hard, too. At first, then came the clips. The tones just don't seem that overwhelming. By overwhelming, I mean it literally, I don't think, based on what I've seen/heard in the clips, that it would be able to take the lower frequencies and give me the drone. It sounds too tinny. But I'm definitely open to trying it in September. I was definitely planning to run it on a separate channel, so as not to muddy it. Plus, I'd bet it would sound great with the POG2 in front of it, because then the drone could be pushed by the organ tones, but then I'm looking at almost $600, unless I find a cheap used POG2. I bet if I wait for it, used Ravishes will be going for $150-175 a few months after it comes out. But we'll see in a month or so...
