New Emerald carbon fiber ABG - impressive!

Last night I finally had some quality time with the Balor - we did an acoustic practice night. I'm stunned by the playability and tone, it is a more than worthy replacement for my Tacomas. And it's beautiful, too!

I'm not loving Chromes on this, though - as expected, but that's the best they could do at manufacture. My original thought was to replace them with my usual LaBella tapes (I have a set waiting that I picked up the same time I ordered the bass), but now I'm wondering if I should give T-I flats a try. I suspect most of our ABG contingent is here - what do y'all think about T-Is on a ABG?
Personally I can't take anything but tapes on my ABGs...but we all have our own sound and feel that we're after.
I have some strings I wish I could recommend, but they're test prototypes the manufacturer decided not to produce.

The hold up on mine is actually waiting for Labella copper tapes. From the few sets I've had, it seems like the two would match up well. In saying that, TIs make everything sound amazing!
Ok, I think I'll try a set of T-Is and see how they work out. I can always fall back to LaBella tapes.
I'll let you know how the tapes go and save you some trouble! The TIs are my other choice once she gets here, so I'm curious to see how it works out.
He's saying the 28th. If the Labellas haven't made it after this week, I'll just tell them to slap whatever they have on it and I'll change them out later.
I've used TI flats on my Tacoma and they sound great. You might also consider Pyramid Black Nylon tapes, which are even nicer than the Labella tapes, to my ear. They also have a great velvety/papery feel.
Can we ask Emerald to put on a specific brand of string?
Honestly I'm not really a fan of ABGs, but this seems like an interesting company, and the instruments seem surprisingly well-priced for full carbon fibre construction (at least in my limited experience).
Honestly the idea of having a little parlour-sized S-7 Opus 6-string as something I could have to hand pretty much anywhere to write songs on is quite appealing.

I'm pretty sure I tried Pyramid tapes on my old four string Tacoma many years ago, but my memory is fuzzy. I ended up with LaBella tapes on that one and the Tacoma fivers that followed. They might be worth another look if I don't care for the T-Is.
Yes, Emerald will accommodate string requests if they can.
Whelp, I have a new set of T-Is just sitting here, but I can't decide if I want to use them or order another set of LaBella black nylon tapes. I just recently put a set of LaBellas on my Dim 5 and am really digging them. If only the T-Is weren't so expensive... I don't want to waste them.
I think I can save you some trouble! My bass is another week or two out because the Labellas wouldn't fit. Going with Chromes so I can get it here after all this time.
Not sure, they didn't specify that part with me. Labella were the ones saying it wouldn't fit, even though Alastair and Sean thought it would. Did TIs fit?
I asked Sean if he remembered what the issue is with the LaBella tapes. I'll report back.
