I have an obsession for wood. The musical kind.
I saw where they replied to that on their Facebook, actually. They still do it but it's a special order thing I think!
Yah, I've talked to them about the possibility of a custom semi-hollowbody, multiscale fretless Flow bass. They also said it's something they will re-introduce as a standard model sometime in the near future. There's one YouTube video of a fretted Flow--sounds very full and responsive. I can imagine a fretless sounding even better!
That would be a wicked bass. I initially was looking at a Flow myself, but then the Balor got announced and the rest was history!
If you end up going that route, let us know! That thing would be beastly!
Yah, beastly, but also costly! Alistair is working on the specs and charges, but it's still in the exploratory stage right now. I still have to pay off the Balor when it's finished in June. Plus it would be prudent to test out Emerald's fretless fingerboards on the Balor first before committing to another. I know I love my Moses Carbon Graphite fingerboards, so if I go multiscale, that would be another possibility. The coolest thing about carbon graphite companies is their willingness to customize to just about any spec. Emerald and Moses seem to be up for just about anything.
One of you TB veterans should start a Emerald Bass club. I'm on the verge of joining a bunch of clubs once I motivate to take photos of my basses.

I'd be down for a club! I've always been big into graphite. I gigged Modulus stuff forever and just recently slapped a Status neck on a Stingray and it made a huge difference. Finding an all graphite acoustic was something I've dreamt about forever but figured wouldn't show up.
The Balor is replacing my old Fodera, so I've got a lot of hope that those guys live up to the hype!

Very lush, like Ireland itself! Too bad Emerald uses such dark photos on its web page. These things deserve better light. The CF weave looks just as good as the woody tops. No wonder I was torn. Can't hardly wait to see how my Bubinga turns out, but I think the Amber weave will look even better than on the website, based on your photo. Congrats!
Thanks man! It was a coin flip for me on the top/no top decision. Either way it's beautiful bass they're making over there. Your bubinga and amber is going to be smoking though. The wood tops I've seen on some of the guitars they've done lately have really been stepped up a bit.
I just paid the remaining balance, so it shouldn't be long now!
I can't decide between one of these and that 12 string 30" scale bass baritone they made (no longer on the site though). I wonder if they'd make me a double neck with both? Couldn't hurt (except my savings) to ask, I suppose.
