agreed, which is why I was glad to see 'spring 2008' there. Although as you say, the 902 was long time between announcement and availability.

he now has a micro head (why in the world would he put those big front handles on there I have no idea!)

I wonder if he has a similar carry bag to the mesa walkabout in mind for this?

Price points will indeed be interesting. I'm not optimistic the piccolo will be LMII price, but hopefully $900 or so.

none of Epi's digital amps go down below 4ohms(so far).

I got word from my local Epifani dealer that the new amps are going to be priced very competitively. What I'm most excited about is their new combos; a PS112 combo is supposedly in the works.

i remember Tiny mentioning something about the piccolo waaay back in the summer. awesome to see they're finally hitting the light of day.

and yea, love the handles. sorta sick of having random knobs shaved off, and replacing them every 3rd or 4th show...

That would explain the combo deals on the PS-600 + PS cabs I have been seeing everywhere.

Vulture that I am...wonder what will happen to the PS 600s? How low would they drop at retailers before disappearing completely? It's the right output/size for my use - but I can't see where it fits in the new product line..?

Cool! That $999 selling price of the 1000 is a nice price-point for that amp.

The PS1000 is quite close to what I've always hoped Nick would do... put out basically a mono amp that is roughly 1/2 of the 902. Given that this amp has an SMPS power supply like the 902, and about the same wattage into 4ohms, and is roughly half the selling price of the 902, this amp might be a winner.

While I would have preferred the bottom channel layout of the 502 as the preamp (i.e., a semi-parametric mid band versus the fixed mid band and 'slap cut'), it is cool that the slap cut has a variable control versus the fixed control on the upper channel of the 502, which is way too extreme IMO.

This looks like a nice unit.... now.. I HOPE it will actually fit in a two space rack, unlike the 502!

Well, such might be the case, but the actual speaker test equipment is pretty mack daddy, and our Technical Editor, Shane Radtke from British Audio Service, will be conducting all of the amp/cab/combo testing. I was out at his shop a while back, and while he is sorely lacking in the refragistator department, he does have a test parrot.

That will be cool. I really like the idea of an independent source for true spec's... i.e., the true power output of an amp, the distortion rate of an amp at 2ohms versus 4ohms, the 'lower end limit' of an amp, the actual - 3db rolloff of a cab and also the 'slope of the roll-off below that, etc., etc., etc., and also the ACTUAL WEIGHT of cabs, which seems to be a spec that should be completely accurate and often is not. I'm really looking forward to this publication.

Quick question... are all of us that have subscribed to the 'paper version' automatically going to receive the on-line version... how will that work?
