New Epiphone basses

I received 2 days ago my new Embassy Pro (the first one reached me with a broken head). The supplier in England has been quite efficient. Since Antique Ivory was not available, the new one is translucent red. I'm rather happy with this change of color (see-through color is gorgeous). I am otherwise a bit disappointed. The bass has virtually not been set up at all (truss rod, bridge height, nut grooves, intonation, everything have to be properly re-adjusted). Fret edges are rather sharp and need to be filed again. Strings are so dirty that my finger tips were black after 1 hour playing. I will be able to make-up my mind once all these points have been settled. The bass, as is, is far from being flawless
Mine came with SS RW strings,which were not too bad,but I too noticed black smudges on my fingertips after just a few minutes of playing. I plan to put different strings on,but in the meantime i will just wipe them down with some alcohol to clean them. My bass has some of the same characteristics,i.e; could use a set up/nut file/maybe just a bit of fret edge work.(it’s not nearly as bad as the new Gibson EB bass i had a few years ago.) Other than that,i think it’s a very nice bbass for the money,and i do like the way it sounds.

Looks to be a keeper,so I took the stickers off. :D

Got my Epiphone Embassy today from Sweetwater. Out of the box, excellent, none of the issues some have had. Looks great, easy to play, I think having the bridge set back so far creates the illusion the bass is shorter scale than 34" which is fine by me. The knobs don't "align" but I am ok, they WORK and that is all I need them to do. Actually, I think they are where they should be! Now, the biggest selling point for me, and greatest concern, the PUs. To my ears, they sound GREAT! They have that T Bird " bite" but with some midrange growl and bass warmth that make them very useful. I have owned four Gibson T Birds (through neck and set neck) and I prefer the tone on this little $399 bass. Those sounded great, but were a bit dark for me. If it has T Bird PUs, I want it to sound like a T Bird! This does the job, IMO. VERY happy with my purchase!

Congrats,Rob! I always thought the thinner bodies of the Embassy vs the tBirds’ made for a brighter tone. (And more comfortable on my midsection,too!)
Edit: let’s see that dynamic duo pic! :bassist:

I got a heads up from Chris P Dekker editor-in-chief of De Bassist magazine, who is currently at the NAMM. Two of the new basses that Epiphone announces for the summer of 2017 are already being discussed in the Thunderbird thread (Pro Thunderbird and Embassy)
Thunderbird Club

But this stunning beauty doesn't really fit in there:

It does come with a hefty price tag....
$ 1665

Does the bow come with this or is it sold separately? :D

I wish. I’m actually in key west Florida. I wish I was still in the great PNW!

So I’m not saying I’m buying one, but I did get the OK from the wife to do so....should I desire...
Oh,well that’s a change! Just figgered you were still in Salem.....
Key West sounds awesome to me,never been there.....
If you get one,i do recommend Sweetwater,they’ve been great.
