New Epiphone basses

@Basvarken thanks for putting these all in one spot. I think it will be a good resource for those interested in these new Epi's. I am impressed that Gibson/Epiphone has stepped up to offer these cool new options. It's almost like they have been reading our posts. : )

Nice--- the same exact basses with a Gibson stamp on them would be 3x the price.

I have no use at all for that hollowbody but it looks sweet! A fretless version would be awesome.

Also, reading the descriptions closer, they state the tbird is a thru neck, but neck construction on the Embassy is not mentioned.

Anyone have info if the Embassy is a bolt on?

I guess these will be at NAMM so we will soon find out.

I'm hoping they're set-neck and 34" scale like the original.

Me, too, but I'm guessing it's a bolt-on. I'd be pretty surprised if it was a shorty, they would have done a Newport reissue if that were the case, imo. But, they already changed a few of the most important characteristics of the Embassy in this one, so why not scale length, too. Time will tell.

Outside of the oversize batwing headstock,and the new2&2 arrangement (which I actually prefer),it seems like they kept a lot of the good features. (Mahogony body and neck is a plus).really curious about the pickups,too.

Nothing looks off about the body to you? The upper horn was lengthened considerably. Wouldn't look so proportionally odd if they had added a bit of width to it as well. Also, jack moved to the side. Closed die cast tuners... looks more like a dressed up ET 285 to me.

I'm looking at this bass as not an embassy reissue, too many changes. Might be a good bass though, and I may end up with one. I'm not trying to take a dump on it, but it isn't a reissue, imo.

My hope is if this bass is successful, they will give us a faithful reissue. Or Burny will take notice and do a reissue.

A friend has one of the Epi Wilshire reissues from a few years ago. I couldn't say offhand how true it is to the 60's model,but it's still a cool little guitar. I guess i'm just not that much of a stickler for detail.
If these are set-neck,i will be checking them out.

Tbird looks great.

I guess I'm going to have to get used to the "improvements" they made to the Embassy. Really wish they had gone with a batwing and left the body shape alone. That upper horn... yeesh. Transparent cherry looks nice, though.

Yeah, something on the proportion of the body is pretty out of whack. I've got an old coronet guitar (batwing) and the upper horn is much shorter

I should have clarified that in my previous post, no not the Embassy, the Thunderbird. Availability time frame is July-August.

These images were sent to me by the Editor-In-Chief of De Bassist Magazine. And he got them on his smart phone from the International Relations Manager of Gibson.
I was an editor for De Bassist for 8 years. And I met the Gibson IRM last december at the presentation of my book at Gibson Europe headquarters.

I don't know why none of these pics have showed up elsewhere yet. Guess we got the big scoop.
