Its about 9.5 pounds .It has some serious growl to it.I usualy play Fender basses. This is my first T-Bird and I love it. How do I join the club?

If you want to join the Thunderbird club just go to the Thunderbird Club thread, post a pic of your bass, and Tbird1958 will add you to the roster. Congrats on the bass!

Pic = Bass

Here you go ;)

No chance to even plug this in till tonight - too busy with work etc.
I'm not the first to notice, but check out the aysymetrical cutaway on the lower 'bout, I'll post some pics with a Gibson alongside for comparison

As I get a bit of time over the next couple days I'll shoot some pics and write a review, but I had the chance to sit down with the bass for about an hour last night and was very favourably impressed. Epiphone knocked it out of the park with this bass!

Hello all-I'm John. I'm a bit of a gear hound and self proclaimed guitar player!

I joined the forum as my daughter is interested in playing bass, as am I (been playing guitar a long time). I am giving her a bass and amp for Christmas. I already purchased the TC Electronics BG250 based on what I learned here. The BG250 and the Epi T-Bird Classic Pro are what led me here and I have some things to learn about playing bass!

After playing about 25 basses at local shops I pre-ordered the Epi TBird Classic and received it a few days ago. I was really impressed with the guitar, fit and finish especially at the price point! It played well but a couple of issues led me to exhange for another as I want this bass to really work out.

The string spacing from the E to the edge of the fingerboard was greater than that of the G string to the edge. I didn't bother measuring-it was obvious. I couldn't understand why. The action and intonation seemed fine and the string to string spacing was equal. I reviewed many photos online and found even string spacing as I am accustomed to on any other guitar. I did find the Tobacco Burst classic photo posted at Sweetwater seeming to show a wider E to edge spacing compared to the G. The Alpine White posted there has even spacing as does the Epiphone site and other sources I reviewed.

One concern was the headstock being painted completely black opposed to the online photos showing the headstock painted black on the inset with stained wood grain around the carve like a Gibson. The Alpine White models posted by TBird 58 and Thrasher show this detail. Another questionable item was the nut being black opposed to bone. The bass shown on the Sam Ash video has the features as represented on the Epiphone site, which is what I expect in this purchase. The Sam Ash video and other photos show the two guitars with chrome bridge and gold knobs as well(?)

Is there something I need to know regarding string spacing on the bass? Is there an adjustment I could have performed. The nut spacing looked good and the bridge seemed to be set up well but the bridge is fixed on studs. The action was really fantastic and no string buzz, frets were nice.

Other pluses for this particular bass-Weighed 8 pounds on my digital scale. Had some nice flamey ribbons in the mahogany showing on the body of the guitar and along the length of the neck. Hope the next one is equally as nice asthetically.

I informed the dealer I purchased from about the paint and nut inconsistencies to their own photos and Epiphone website. Small as they may seem, I trust they will deliver a unit at least with the correct paint job. The black nut is not a deal breaker!

I am eager to hear any input or advice from you as I venture down this 'new' road.

Take Care.

Welcome to the low end and talk bass!!! All I can think of is the obvious, but I am sure you already know that as an experienced musician. Pick a bass that is comfortable or you won't play it as much. Practice pays off!!! Like I said the obvious, which you probably already know, lol!! Oh yea if you have any questions there are a lot of knowledgeable peeps here on TB!!
