Hmm, it should work similar as you are used to it from your P. On my EBMM SS it cuts noticeably the trebles. Maybe a wiring error? You should contact EBMM customer service. I have a wiring error on mine, but decided to keep it like it is. EBMM was very helpful in this issue.
I need another bass like a hole in the head...but man do I ever want one of these!
Thanks, will do. There is also a persistent buzz that disappears when I touch any of the knobs, in all pickup configurations. Have you noticed anything like that? Perhaps it is a wiring issue.

Recently I bought a brand new EBMM Stingray Short Scale bass off the eComm site and it came 7 weeks early .. nice. I like it a lot. I have been playing short scales for a few years now but this my first ever EB. So I'm looking at gig bag cases because the very nice case the instrument came with is a larger heavy duty one which is great for the shipping not so much schlepping.
The Shorty bass is 41.5" long and I believe it would fit in a "guitar" case. A couple years back I tried a Mono Top loading case for my other short scale (Birdsong C-bass) and it fit except up the headstock was too tight and a struggle to zip.. it is the 2 and 2 tuner type plus has a tilted back headstock like a LesPaul guitar. The tuning keys stuck out too far to close the top of the case and I didn't trust it .. returned it. Well this new EB Shorty seems like it would fit so I may try it again. Any experience or recommendations are appreciated. I looked at a number of gig bags and I think I would prefer a 'top loader'. The $269 is pricey for the Vertigo, they offer a sleeve type for $179 but the Vertigo looks worth it maybe?? The 'bass' version of the Vertigo bag/case interior is over 48" so the Shorty would not fit well imo..
Good protection for an instrument is worth it in my opinion but I thought I'd ask around because I'm not in a hurry. Thanks in advance.

I put my StingraySS in an ordinary guitar gig bag recently. It was a bit tight, but worked. Just to put it in the car. For better protection I may investigate in a slightly bigger gig bag.
I looked around with google, Soundparcel sells the SS with this one.

All of my guitars and basses live in gig bags and I've owned about 20 or so different ones through the years including many of the most popular ones.
My EBMM SS Ray lives in a Gator Pro-Go guitar bag. I like the bag a lot except for the white interior. Just remove the insert. The Gator Icon should work too but I think the Transit is likely too small. At a lower price point, the SS Ray also fits in the Levy's Deluxe guitar bag (my Mustang bass lives in one of them) and the Roadrunner Highway Premium guitar is a tight fit even though the specs look too tight (my SBMM SS lives in one of them). It should fit in the Mono Stealth and Sleeve bags but the others may or may not work. I think their dimensions are trustworthy and the M80 & Vertigo numbers look too tight in the guitar bags. Your bass does not fit in a Protec Contigo guitar bag. It is one of my favorite bags but the guitar bag is too short for a SS bass. As you mentioned a bag made for a 34 inch scale bass just doesn't fit a short scale bass.
For really expensive, check out Glenn Cronkhite. The company model has changed a bit so you'd need to talk with them but when I got a bag for my Lowden acoustic, everything was custom made to the measurements of your specific instrument. They had patterns for scores of different guitars and the cases fit perfectly. They still have patterns for lots of guitars and may have something that would be a good fit already... or a custom bag. It does not include any hard inserts but the bag is simply amazing... at a price. If I could justify the expenditure, my EBMM would live in one.
I've heard that the Serek bag is a good one that fits... but I've not seen one. I'd guess it is a rebranded Mono.
Just got one of these Boss CB-EG20 bags on sale for $99. Fits nicely with the extra pad moved to the side. https://www.boss.info/us/products/cb-eg20/. I also have the tan Levy's deluxe bag. Both are very nice bags. I feel like the Boss may give a bit more protection. I like it.

Interesting.. as usual I'm doing a lot of comparing of specs. According to the spec from the Mono website the Sleeve is not as wide as the Vertigo in the head-stock interior being 5" whereas the Vertigo is 6.5". I ordered a Vertigo from Sweetwater supposed to arrive tomorrow. Hopefully it will fit without any issues like I had with my Birdsong Shorty.
Another thing I noticed was the Vertigo guitar bag for a semi hollow the int dimension slightly bigger being 7" at the top and 42" long which probably would be perfect but it is 4" deep compared to 3" deep. Could be a better fit but I'll try the regular Vertigo first. Yadda
