I play Lava Cables pretty much exclusively these days. Great sound, great quality, US made, veteran owned, great customer service. Plus, I'm a dealer. ;)

As for making your own DI breakout cable, quality TRS and XLR plugs will cost you ~$4 each, add in the balanced shielded cable (where can you buy just one foot of it?), soldering, cost of doing business, etc, and $13.50 isn't out of line for a quality cable from a reputable seller.

No other EA dealers I'm aware of carry such a cable, much less include it with the sale for no charge. I'm glad Bob and Mark include it, I've used it a number of times and I didn't have to make it myself.

Does it need to be a stereo jack to XLR or will any XLR to jack do? And which type of XLR end (male or female?).

I mentioned this awhile ago, but when I used this kind of cable with my Micro 300 at one venue, I had a ground loop that produced hum. I added a ground lift XLR adapter to my amp bag and that solved the problem.

Several companies make these and they're relatively cheap.

I've also struggled to find a way to add a ground lift in the uk. Let us know if u find one. :-)

Well I did my 2 gigs at the weekend with my iamp micro550 replacing my Puma1000 which is away getting volume pot repaired. It was poor through my 8 ohm UL2 410. I ran out of power big style with our 18 piece big band. iamp micro was at 3 o'clock input level, slight bass boost, slight mid cut, slight high boost....master volume was almost full up. (input trims full up) This amp falls way short of expectations of a 300 watt into 8 ohms amp. One half of the Puma 1000....280 watts @ 8 ohms is much louder. The iamp feels about 100 watts and as someone else has posted, it feels as if it gets quieter as the night goes on. Anyone like a swap for a Puma 500, which would be a much better backup amp for me.:crying:
Hope my Puma is returned very soon:bawl:

I finally bought the doubler, it has like someone of you said the mute switch popping. is that a random thing or depending by the model or just by the current in the building?
does it have this pop thing with the DI too? It can be unpleasant to sent a pop to the PA.
I tried out the 550 of a friend of mine and it doesn't had this pop on mute.

by the way i can't wait to try it out in rehasals and in concert

Sorry to her that. I know that the Tech Amps are really great units.
My friend KJung swears by them. Could be that you have a Doubler that needs to be checked out. Based on the praise it's getting here I'd certainly give E.A. a call or sent them an email.

A friend has a new Doubler, so we are going to compare with my Micro tomorrow to see if there is any noticable volume difference. I have been contacted by the guys at EA who have been very helpful.....as usual very good service from this company. There may be a gain tweek that my early Micro did not get.

I believe there was a mod done which increases the level. 3 resistors need to be changed in the preamp. E-mail Gary if you are concerned. When I get my Tecamp back from repair I'll get my Micro updated. The difference was quite noticable on a A/B compare through a wizzy10. I would need to do a gig with my 4x10 to make a full assessment.

My Micro is #009. Gary responded to my email this morning stating mine should be fine. I wonder why there is a volume difference between the Doubler and the Micro? I've been tempted to get a Doubler but I've got a Plat Pre so I'm pretty content. I do still love reading about the Doubler. Perhaps someday...
