As far as I am concerned a high-pass filter is essential for DB with a piezo pickup. I built a modified version of fdeck's HPF-Pre and use it on the 2nd channel of my Markbass LMK, where it also has the additional benefit of providing a high impedance input for the piezo (the LMK is only 500k).
I have found that I need to tweak the cutoff frequency from venue to venue. Therefore I feel that the control needs to be on the front of the amp right along with the other tone controls. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the frequency of the HPF on the Doubler only adjustable with a screwdriver from an access hole on the edge of the unit? This would be an issue for me.
On the subject of feature requests for the future:
1) I miss the built-in tuner that I have in my iAMP800 - it would be nice to see the same again.
2) A noise gate to tame the hiss between numbers. I used one in the rack with my iAMP800.
3) What about bassists who double, but would like to use a mic/pickup combo for DB (with separate gain/EQ etc. on each), but also want a separate channel for EB? - The 'Tripler'?
4) Headphone output with an external XLR aux input that can be mixed with the bass signal to the headphones. I recently did a theatre production where it was a 'cans only' setup. Being able to have taken a feed from the sound desk directly into the amp and mixed with the bass sound in the cans would have saved a lot of faffing around with headphone amps etc.
