Mike, what happened to the vintage Metro 4 string that you had at Tom B place? One of the nicest playing basses I've had a chance to sit with.

Actually, I dug that bass a LOT. But I had a greater need for something else at the time, so it went.
Lets see....I'll start from the bottom right moving left, then start at the top right, moving left (thats my signal path).
Tuner (Peterson StroboStomp) used for tuning your bass. Crazy huh?!?!?
Octive pedal (Boss)- makes tone either one or two octives below your note.
Chorus pedal (Boss)- kinda makes your sound "3 dimensional" by splitting it and off-setting it (delaying) an extreamly small amount.
EQ pedal (Demeter)- well...umm...it's EQ!
Envelop Follower pedal (or Auto Wah)- think Bootsy Collins. I can't describe exactly how/why it does what it does, but it's cool as hell!!!
Compressor (Demeter)- kinda smooths out the transient peaks in your signal.
Boost pedal (FullTone)- Umm...boost?? Makes things go louder. Or as I like to say, the "Make it go BOOM!" pedal!

Yeah, it's pretty cool.
Th spaceing is kinda tight for my tastes. Just slightly tighter than my Sadowsky or Valenti, but enough to really notice when I play it first then switch to something else.
I have a Sandberg fretless neck coming for it.
To be honest, I hate the look of maple/black blocks. I think it's ugly.
But it works for this bass. I just wouldn't have ordered it like that.
I MAY end up just flipping it. I don't know just yet. I really don't have a need for another 5. Let alone on that is in the ballpark tone wise as my Valenti.
Actually it sits pretty well between me Sadowsky and my Valenti.
Now, if someone had say, a UL112 & UL110 they wanted to get rid of, we could work something out

I'll let Mike answer, of course, but FWIW, I A/B'd the EBS and Demeter, along with a number of other compressors, and I found the two of them to be my faves by a good bit. The EBS seemed more well-suited to that 'intentionally compressed' almost 'effect-like' tone, whereas the Demeter was a bit more 'invisible' and did it's job without making it obvious that you were using a compressor. The latter is more to my style, so I opted for the Demeter, but I can see where a lot of cats would prefer the EBS.

I've had both concurrently and still have the Demeter. I think the EBS is more versatile, and the tube emulation mode is really cool, but if all you want is a real clean and pure compressor, I think the Demeter is a little better. That's all I ever need, so I kept the Demeter (also because it's a signed NAMM unit (of 10 total that year), but that's not the main reason).
Mike, killer collection, dude! I thought you sold your old 70's J at one point... is that the same one you've always had? You need to bring it to a Borg, dude!

Though I never tried the EBS, I REALLY dig the Demeter.

Always bumps in my road, but overall doing OK.
I thought I brought the old Jazz to Tom's????? And yeah, that thing will go to the grave with me.
I'll bring it to the next Borg for sure. Just may need to rent a moving truck- that thing is by far the heaviest bass I think I ever picked up!!!
Do you leave your compressor on all the time? I really haven't been using my EBS much, but then I never really figured out how to use it the right way (I used to just set it at really low compression and leave it on, then I realized it wasn't really doing much heheheh).
