IMO this means nothing to Fender ... The '61 Jazz re-issue (if we can even call it that) made sense because of the color, RW feature and stack knobs in that particular price range. And while they were at it, why not associate the model with a famous player. However I'm not sure if that was the best business decision, I think the bass would've done just fine without Flea. This active Frankenstein's bass will end up just like the Dimension.
A little OT but a Flea sig. bass would mean heaps more to MusicMan. I mean can you imagine the increase of sales, especially in the Sterling by MusicMan department? All the way from the cheap Sub's to the Ray34's. I know those are not real EBMM's but EBMM still owns that company right? I believe that would justify paying Flea the endorsement ... or however an endorsement works.
