New Fender Flea sig.

I don't mean to be snide; but this looks like the second Fender StingRay attempt - following the discontinued Dimension Bass. Let's see if branding the guitar after a famous StingRay player helps.

It's more like Flea switching companies who make him a new Stingray bass because he couldn't get a Stingray named after him. Hmm, wonder which company will make him one next.

Flea only needs 4 strings. :D

I play 5. :bassist:

The promo is amazingly bad and I'm a fan of Flea. There's nothing of the claimed flea's energy into it.

Nevertheless, it seems to be a nice bass. I guess we'll have to wait for a proper sound test. The pink one looks cool too.

It's a pity that MusicMan didn't do a Flea bass at the right time, i.e. 20 years ago. I still find strange to see Flea with a Fender.

I really don't get some of the resistance to this bass. I personally like the look. I don't know why he hasn't circled back around with Music Man like Tim C, but it's no big deal to me.

As far as this being the "successor" to the Dimension - I think that people in general aren't asking Fender for spangling new models. The Dimension was an okay concept, but I think this fits the Fender paradigm better by going for the "modded" look and feel. The J and P "platforms", if you will, are iconic. For better or worse.

I want one, pretty badly.

So instead of routing the neck pocket further in to the body (towards the bridge) they just slammed the neck (22 frets) on it and moved the bridge closer to the neck. That irks me so much more than I would like to admit ...

Really hoping this isn’t the case.:eyebrow:

While part of me loves the general aesthetics of this bass (regardless of placing someone’s “signature” on it) I do feel that for the price they could at least include a battery route/compartment for the preamp.:cautious:

So what albums were recorded with what then?
:)

This is mostly guess work, from stuff I may, or may not have, remembered over the years..

RHCP - Stingray
Freaky Styley - Stingray and P Bass
Uplift Mofo - Spector NS2
Mothers Milk - Spector NS2
Blood Sugar - Wal Mk2 and Stingray 5, acoustic
One Hot Minute - Alembic Epic and Stingray
Californication - Modulus,acoustic
By The Way - Modulus and Jazz
Stadium Arcadium - 61 Jazz
I’m With You - 61 Jazz (some say the cheapo Flea Bass, but really?!!!)
The Getaway - 61 Jazz

Any amendments needed folks?
