New Fender Rumble Combo amps - NAMM 2014

Yeah Baby! Sounds great and he's not even playing loud at all. You can hear people chatting in the background and they are not yelling to be heard.
I'm definitely interested in one of these. However, there are a few things I find mildly annoying about the line as a whole:
The combos will power an extension cab, but the controls are on the top rear corner. How exactly are those among us who aren't 7' tall supposed to see the controls when a combo is stacked on top of an extension cab?
Additionally, they don't appear to have an extension cab that is the same dimensions as the combo, leaving those who would prefer a matching cab out to dry. (IMO, stacking a 19" wide combo on a 23" wide cabinet looks goofy on stage, not to mention the difficulty of EQing mismatched cabs.)
Personally, I won't lose any sleep, because I'm more interested in the head than the combos. It's just that they did the exact same thing that annoys me about some of the MarkBass line: combos that will power an extension, but no extension of the same size. It's a shame, because with all of the "vertical 4x10"-ing that goes on around here (which I have done in the past and really enjoyed), I think Fender missed an opportunity to offer people something really cool (a lightweight vertical combo with front controls that stacks nicely on an identically-sized extension cabinet).

Rumbles Rock Baby! Yeah!
Now THAT is how you do a proper demo video. I like the solo'ed bass with the drums in, then drums back out. You can clearly see all of the settings, and they use multiple different basses. Good stuff.
Just looking at the photos & specs, the Rumble 500 head seems to be a "dumbed down" version of the GB 6.2 head. Fender can obviously have the amp made in greater numbers, and for less money. For example, less expensive to use 1/4" jacks than speakons. Perhaps some of the internal parts are cheaper. But if it keeps Jeff and Aged Horse in the amp designing biz, and if it takes great quality sound to the bass playing masses, a good thing.
When the Fender rumors started on TB I upgraded my 6.0 12t to a 6.2 12t, plus a new 12t extension cab. 600 watts, under 50 lbs total. Best amp decision I've ever made. Grab one while you still can!

i was also wondering if the new rumble is a relative of the former Genz Benz Shuttle series. It would make sense.
Got the list price for the UK for the heads...
£300 for the Rumble 200 Head and £500 for the Rumble 500 Head.
I think they might struggle at those prices as though don't have the proven track record of things like Little Mark III which can be picked up for a similar price.
Shame really, if these were priced right I would've picked one up but I'm going to go for something else now.

The online demos sound good. But the proof is always in the playing, of course.
I can't help but think that Fender is doing more than a few things with this new line.
First? Getting into the Class D game with the Fender brand. FMIC was doing that with both the SWR and Genz Benz brands, but never under the Fender banner itself. I think it's a point of pride for Fender as a brand.
Second? I think Fender recognizes that other bass amp manufacturers have been kind of cashing in on that classic Fender amp look. Notably, Aguilar's DB series cabinets in the black tolex with silver grill cloth.
It's a cosmetic thing, sure. But it does make you wonder just a bit. Is Fender looking to take on Aguilar now?

I think my Bassman TV 12 has a class D power amp, but not sure. Either way these new Rumbles are about a third of the cost for similar power, speaker configuration, etc. as the TV's. Shows the TV series were probably way overpriced. I got a mint used one after they were discountued very cheap, or I would be looking at these new Rumbles. But new, mine would have sold for $849.00 and a new Rumble 200-12 combo is $299.00. Only difference I can see is tweed cosmetics, hefty rocker power switch and tube/tone stack pre-amp. Maybe the Celestion speaker is better than Eminence? But three times the price. Is the country of manufacturing different?

Fender has been doing class d for awhile and Fender's aesthetic choice for the new rumble is just using what they've done with their own amps over the last 50 years.

I know that the 150 & 350 Rumbles introduced in 2010 were both D-Class. Not sure about Fender's TV Tweed series. I really wanted one of those, but could not afford the $1,000+ at the time. Anyway I am very happy to have the Fender Rumbles that I do.

I think it's very obvious that Aguilar had been copying the blackface/silverface look for some time. To me it's odd that it's taken decades for Fender to come around to offering their bass amps in this classic look again. Why did it take so long for them to realize that aesthetically they already had a very appealing look in the palm of their hands?
New Rumble amps? Great, now that Rumble 150 I've been trying to sell is worth even LESS on resale. -_-
I agree with a earlier post regards the extension cab being 23 in wide and the combo being 19, that is a turn off for me , you stackem up, and you wouldn't have a nice aligned column seems like a strange design concept , or am I miss reading something?
Very strange. The specs Fender has posted so far say that the 1x15 combo uses an Eminence Legend speaker. Since that's not a custom OEM speaker, someone who wanted an extension cab that matched the dimensions of the combo could have Don at LDS make one pretty easily. At least that's what I'd consider doing.
