New Ford Bronco revealed!

I'm not an SUV guy at all. But I do like the looks of this.

I'm in a place where people own a boatload of full-size trucks with V8s and fancy trim packages to tags their wives and kids out to the lake every so often. I want a truck too, I'm not here to criticize. It's really nice to see dedicated offroad stuff too, if I didn't drive as much as I do on highways, I'd probably have bought an old Suzuki Samurai - unironically the Suzuki Jimny is one of my favorite designs.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's nice seeing something that looks kind of off-roadey and fun, and NOT large to a comical degree.

I'm also with @Mike N on not paying too much for cars, though my personal highest is just about 6000usd. Money pits however you cut it, although I guess if everybody bought used then there wouldn't be any used cars for us to love.

I generally like Ford, and I really wanted to love this thing, but I find the exterior styling to be almost toy-like and the interior styling to be just plain ugly. Also, it's SHOCKINGLY expensive for what it is, especially considering that I live in Canada, so the base model is going to cost at least 1/3 more here than it will in the US.

Also, I'm not sure what Ford thinks the demographic for this is going to be. It doesn't have the practicality of a family hauler, and it's too expensive to lure in younger people who's wallets typically restrict them to buy less-expensive, compact and sub-compact SUV's (which Japanese and Korean companies are producing very good examples of) or the used market. I don't think they're going to sell enough of these based on nostalgia alone, but I'm no expert.

I have a 1996 bronco, the last year they made the bronco. Although they look kinda cool (it looks like a hummer to me) I will stick with my bronco named Lucille. She needs some TLC and some repairs and I hope to give some attention this winter.

...I'd let someone else take the hit on buying it new.
That's a good rule for any vehicle, really. I've only purchased two new cars in my life, and likely won't do it again.

But I like the new Bronco. I think Ford did it right. I know the styling is polarizing, but with all of the safety requirements these days, auto manufacturers have to make some concessions.

I think Ford wants a chunk of the demographic that buys Jeep Wranglers. There's no shortage of those on the road and they are also shockingly expensive.

Most definitely some FJ influence in there!

I'd like to see the Bronco in person. It doesn't look quite as good as the Broncos from the late 60s and early 70s... but it's pretty cool.

Do think it's interesting Ford is making a "Bronco II" (i.e., the Sport version of the new Bronco). They're definitely going after the younger crowd. Hey, the Bronco II was pretty popular back in the day... and I know several people who own the little SUVs by Toyota, Honda, Jeep and Ford... so the Bronco Sport should be a popular seller.

Am I imagining things or is its styling influenced by the FJ Cruiser?
