No offense to anyone but I used to own several Avatar cabs, and I own a Bergantino now. The advantages are small but it's the last 10% that makes all the difference. The Berg is louder, lower, handles more power, and has a full range tone that works great with any amp and bass. The Avatar needed compromises in amps, volume, tone, etc.
Not that it was a bad cab for the price - but there is a science and there is a reason to pay for higher end cabs. It's not like paying $400 for a boutique distortion pedal with $40 worth of parts

Again, just your opinion. I can put my Ex-Factor bass through any amp & it will sound good.
I'm sure you can. But with Bass it's not just about tone. It's also about deliverying the goods at gig volumes. It might sound good alone but if the amp and cab can't keep up with the band that tone usually goes out the window trying to keep up.
Again I'm not hating on the Avatar cabs, I really liked mine. I'm just saying there are gains to be had for additional cost.
but once again all opinion,additional cost or not. i played a gig a few months ago where the bass player of another band left his equip set up for all the following bands. nice guy and nice offer,guy before me loved it. after our sound check i set my gk,avatar,peavey rig up instead cuz it sounded better to me. he had 2 112s bergs and eden head. great equip and he spent alot more than i did i'm sure,but i perferred "my sound". and have never had any problems "keeping up"'

Well I have owned Bergantino cabs, and yes they are superior in some ways, but not by much.
I can tell you this, I have a new Avatar 2x12 cab (Line-X finish with Delta LF speakers) and the construction of the cab and the quality of the speakers are excellent. The only flaw I found with my cab was the wiring, as they use very thin 18 gauge speaker wire. I rewired my cab with 14 gauge and it's perfect now. The best 2x12 I have owned period.
Very high end items like Bergantino, Ferrari, etc. are rarely criticized for anything other than being expensive or "worth the extra money".
The not so high end brands are criticized as not being the best.
Both valid arguements; pick the one that suits your needs.
I wish that Avatar would offer some technical information as to the design and performance of their products on their website.

That's nothing...Musician's Friend wants $929.99 for an AccuGroove Tri110L (yes, a 1x10)... they don't seem to carry the Tri210L at the moment. The Bill Dickens sig 2x12 is over $2 Grand!!! Yowzer!!
That's because publishing the actual specs and measurements of your speaker cabinets might drive customers away from your company once they realize what they're actually buying. A company can simply say that "X" cabinet has "Y" response at a "Z" frequency, and people will believe it if they have no better source of information.
A specific tonal goal is a matter of opinion, but the rules of audio stay the same regardless of what anybody thinks.

I don't think Dave would have it any other way. If he didn't there would be a lot of complaints just like there was before he went with the extended Xmax.

Yes, I did the same on mine concerning the wire gauge. Also, made another crossover for the tweeter but now I used Eminence Pro Horns (2 horns/85w each) biamped off the GK700 RBII. Originally this cab came with a Kappa Pro 4ohm speaker. I wanted to be able to use another cab so I put an Eminence Kappa Pro LFA with higher Xmax in it. I had to put bracing on the inside back panel just below the control plate to stop some cab buzz/vibration. Very good low end. The highs are ultra smooth and unlike the Foster Tweeter horn when played by itself sounded distorted but when played with the 15" speaker sounded decent these horn have a musical quality to them. I am considering using a 6.5" mid speaker with crossover as soon as I can afford it. This will fill in the void between my 15" speaker and my horns.
