I'm very excited about these strings, just what the doctor ordered! Even the supposed low tension suits me fine because I usually plays TI's and have grown to love the lower tension.

Looking at the gauges...and I know little about this... Question...How would this set be?

.085 A
.105 E
.135 B
too floppy for playing and proper sound?

.043 is a High-C in La Bella Tapewound flavor.

.050 is best for G in La Bella Tapewounds...

You could try it but I think the .043 tuned to G will be nearly not playable...

La Bella created the new lower gauges so there should be no modification needed to your instruments... I would stick with the standard 5 string set and enjoy the silky smooth tapewound goodness...

I know these just came out, and they say they're brighter, but has anyone AB'd tested these and the 760N's to be sure. I love the black nylon's but would like a little more brightness if possible.

Also, I know these new ones are a different material. I find the black ones to have a bit of a plastic clicking sound when they buzz against a fretless board. I'm also curious what these new ones will sound like when they buzz in the same fashion.

I had black labella tapes on my fretless carvin, which is now sadly gone. The "white" tapes are on my new cheapo yamaha fretless and they are definately brighter. (Had them on my fretted Carvin but just got the yamaha so I wanted to try them on fretless) They do seem like a different material. It's hard to describe really. They kinda feel like super smooth plastic. They're smoother than the blacks which are already very smooth. Maybe it's because the black tapes were older, they had a shine to them, and we're just a teensy tine bit sticky. Their "white" tapes aren't the least bit clicky and work fantastically well on my fretless yamaha. I set the action super low so unplugged it buzzes quite a bit, but it's a mwah machine amplified with no unpleasant buzz or click, just singing.
