NEW FROM NAMM. IBANEZ 7 STRING BASS

So Ibanez has a 7 string Bass/Guitar hybrid coming out this year (Japan only for now). It's tuned

B-E-A-D-G-C-E

Which is normal for 7string right?
Also this one " SR7VIISC " is only a 30" scale.

It's played like a guitar.

Interesting. The tuning totally loses me though - why not BEADGBE? How does making it neither a bass tuning nor a guitar tuning make it a hybrid?

The tuning is stupid it should be either BEADGCF or BEADGBE, and the spacing is going to make it impossible to play except guitarists.

I tried an Ibanez 8 string guitar last week and it was absolutely kick ass. Sounded great and also looked killer. This just does nothing for me unfortunately.
