That's kinda rude.
From the picture, it looks like if they did put it in the proper spot, they would have had to remake the pickguard. That would have been an extra expense that a company like SX would have been reluctant to make, I'm guessing. Is it all that big a deal, anyway?

its got a nice low end to it compared the the QPs.
they work well together, but i find myself using the bridge pup more.
I believe the thinking is...why have a MM type pickup unless it's in the MM sweetspot and "sounds" like a MM.
Why not. It isn't a MM bass, it's a cheap Chinese knock-off of a Fender Jazz with a bridge pickup that LOOKS like an MM pickup. Easier and cheaper to expand the rout that's already there than go to the expense of making up bodies with all new routs just for that one model. What do you expect from a $150 mass produced bass?

Can't believe that a huge manufacturer would really have much of an upcharge to change the coordinates for the cutter on a CNC mill.
Looks like Rogue has the same version but with an active pre:

That was my thinking. Outside of the reach of EBMM's legal hand, they make a Stingray copy, so really no reason to make ANOTHER stingray copy in a Jazz body.
I've heard that they were sold in ths states for a short time but the US distributor hasn't offered a SR copy in quite some time

Yeah, EBMM caught them hard and fast, I'm betting through TB threads when they first came up, since EB have plenty of eyes here.
I'm just guessing that SX's company(Team Interantional, IIRC), might not want to go through the work to make a Jazz with a Stingray setup, when they already make Stingray knockoffs.
But then they make like 20 different J's, so who knows?
The MM is definitely closer to the bridge than it is on the real McCoy.

The MM pickup has at least a couple of standard locations on popular production basses- the MM position and the Lakland position (which is a bit closer to the bridge). I don't know if this bass has the Lakie location, but it doesn't have the MM. No good reason on earth to avoid both.
Is there any way to rout an MM over a Jazz without the Jazz showing just a bit? If not, then the rout position was designed with an unrouted area in mind and cost becomes irrelevant.
