New Gibson EB bass

No...did I somehow miss that on the 2014s? WWBW had a 20% off code that I had to call in for. They sent me the quote through my musiciansfreind account but they sold out by the time I tried to check out.

$784 with 0% financing for 36 months through sweetwater. Would have paid straight up for it but now my Christmas budget is that much bigger. One more thing to knock out with my tax refund.

Some confusion there between the 2013's and the 2014's. The 2013's were being blown out last month for $699 and if you were able to get anyone to honor a 15% off coupon then you snagged a sub-$600 EB.

I don't think you are yet able to acquire a 2014 model under $600.

I bought one of the last of the 2013's. Phenomenal bass, IMHO.

Honestly if you're going to demo a bass make sure it's in tune and the intonation is properly set. Geez the guy is supposed to be one of Gibson's bass specialists. IMO Very poor demos .

I like these basses but it just seems like Gibson never takes the time to take a new bass model to the next level. I've seen this happen time and again over the years going way back to the 70's.

Take a look at the Cabronita P bass demo that Fender put up on YouTube. If you were buying a bass and were basing your decision from an online demo, which one would you be more interested in?

Man I really like this Gibson but their marketing for it sucks.

The first particularly was so bad I thought maybe it was an example of the chorus effect some here have written about. No?

I got one for Christmas last year and it's in rotation for gigs with my MIA Jazz and RIC 4003. Has a lot of sounds for a passive bass. The coil taps are nice. The radius to me is a little flatter than my other basses but I don't mind it. Yeah, Gibson cut a few corners making it but nothing that affects how it plays and sounds in my hands. IMO.

I do love the case it comes in. As an older guy, it reminds me of the cases I use to get when I purchased Fenders and Gibsons in the 70's and 80's.

Seriously, This is one of only two basses that Gibson has made over the years that has ever peaked my curiosity. It seems it is perhaps the only bass they have built that is not an after thought on one of their guitar designs. Further unlike other Gibson offerings it has an excellent price point. I like the Nitro finish on these including the fact that it shows grain through the finish.

Would be a shame if it is discontinued after only two years.

Played one recently. SWEET! Light too.

What is meant by "(Vintage Gloss)" listed here - Link Removed ? Is that the neck, and is it the same on 2013? I tried a 2013, had a nice satin-y feel on the neck. Also dug the light (nitro?) finish a lot that showed the grain through physically. Would much prefer that to a thick gloss body finish. For the 2013's the Gibson site refers to the finish as "Satin" - Link Removed

What's the deal with the bridge? Such an ugly thing that seemed to have no height adjustment. Apologies if that's been covered before. Will spend some time scanning back through this long thread.

Lastly, is that brown-ish case the same for 2013?

The 2013 has the black case with white plush interior. As far as the height adjustment, there are 2 allen bolts on the rear of each saddle. The right bolt adjusts the height, and the left bolt locks in the adjustment at the desired height.

I dunno 'bout that, the Grabber, Ripper, and G3 were nothing like any of their guitars. If you want the thud, they sure bring it.
