New GK 800 Legacy!

Did you get to turn them all the way up? A main complaint people sometimes have with class D amps is that when compared to class A/B, they don’t keep up as well when you really turn them up. I also wonder if these feature GK’s own power amp module, or one that other class D amps share.

As loud I pushed a bit and no issue.

D'ya think the knobs'll be tighter than on the MB Fusion 800? Y'know: Like they were on the 800RB? I've owned both, loved both, but that MB Fusion...I went to the doctor and I said, Doc, my knobs are too loose, and he said that it sounded like a personal problem...

I spoke briefly with Bob and Forrest Gallien at NAMM about the new amps. (Nice guys, BTW.) What they conveyed was an if-you-like description rather than a this-is-the-new-X claim. Here’s what I heard: If you like the RB series tone and features, the new Legacy amps are designed for you. If you like the MBF series tone and features, the new Fusion amps are designed for you. If you Like the Plex pedal tone and features, the new Plex amps are designed for you.

So that's confusing. You mean they were aiming to be a class D 800RB, but they resisted messaging close similarity because there will be nominal differences?

What I'm hearing from Tony is that this amp is 800RB inspired, but it's really it's own thing. And that was the aim to begin with.

Anyway, I've enjoyed my MBF800 for a long time, and I was initially really excited about these. But since they were first "announced", I've added a Demeter and a Mesa WD-800 to my stash, so I'm must less interested in a new amp these days. But, hey, let's see/hear what it has to offer!

No what I mean is there a lot of 4 year old whiners on TB .

These seem great, but, I play through a pair of MB Fusion 800s, not sure how quick I will be switching just for the sake of switching...if they crapped out, maybe, but as of now the only issue is one knob doesn't light up anymore...I can live with that.

Great videos GK!

Two things have stuck out at me from the videos - the legacy amps knobs arnt lit like the other models - which is a good thing - although I think the back lit knobs on the fusion/fusion+/plex are cool, and I like how they indicate the extra functions - by keeping the legacy simple - using simple potentiometers makes it more future-proof/servicable in the long run. It also is in keeping with the legacy vibe.

The other thing I like is the rounded corners. this last week Ive been lugging my 1001rb to practice without an enclosing rack and I have to be *SO* careful as I know those sharp corners will dig in to car upholstery, Tolex covered cabs and instrument hard cases - rounded corners are such a good idea - I also like the mini rack handles to protect the knobs [I'm looking at you darkglass]

+1 .... I hope GK gets rid of the cheap feeling, flimsy knobs .

I love their fusion amps .
It would be cool if GK released a tube pre - pedal to go with their MBP cabs , like the plex pedal but a fusion version.

Now how long do I have to wait to get a Fusion 212 combo!? Me wants!

What has me really interested (now in the combos) is the mention (in the video) of an Legacy 800 2x10 combo. Lately I've been gigging so much Im starting to get super critical about all the time/work making sure I have a cable for x and power cord for y etc... Combo means one piece not head, cab, speaker cable.
