New GK 800 Legacy!

With any luck I will be taking one of these home with me today.
So I have been talking to Jason via email. This is subject to change I'm sure but he is saying the combos will be out in August and they changed their mind about the configuration and will only be offering the combos in an 800 watt version with NEO drivers. Street price on the 2x10 he says is $1199.00 for the Legacy 800 2x10 combo not bad when you consider how much the head is and the price of NEO drivers.

So that means there will be no 1x15 or 2x12 combos? Just the 800 watt in a 2x10?
...or does it mean that they only plan to offer an 800 watt combo lineup, no 500 or 1200 watt versions?
No he said they would only be using the Legacy 800 for combos (only using the 800 watt amp).
The way I read that they will be using the 800 watt amp for all the available configurations of the combos. For instance the Legacy 1x12 will be 400 watts at 8 ohms 800 watts with an 8 ohm extension then same for the Legacy 1x15 and 2x10 then I believe the Legacy 2x12 will be 800 watts no extension.
If I understood correctly the Legacy Combos will be available in a 1x12, 1x15, 2x10, 2x12, and 4x10 version.
Keep in mind I have no inside track to GK (some of this could change prior to release) I'm just a fanboy who talked to Jason though as much as I play out they should endorse me. There needs to be an East Coast Tony P.
So here is what is attractive to me about the 800, at 8 ohms I get a 400 watt amp. This would allow me to use just one GK 112 or one GK CX210 and bam that's my smaller rigs. Then for the bigger rig use two CX210 cabs for the 800 watts.
Right now I cant get 400 watts at 8 ohms. This would eliminate my need for some of the other rigs I been using.
I can only get 350 at 8 ohms now though this seems a minuscule amount difference it may be enough of a difference for me to eliminate some stuff.

I just realized that on the Legacy 1200 you will only get the full 1200 watts if you are using two 4ohm cabs. That's a little disappointing as I was hoping to get the full 1200 with one of my 4 ohm cabs like the Berg Forte HP does. The graph on the back of the amp reads like this: 800 watts into a 4ohm cab, 1200 watts into two 4ohm cabs, 800 watts into two 8ohm cabs and 950 watts into a 4ohm and 8ohm cab.
So if I'm never going to run two 4ohm cabs together (Subway 2x15 and AK Hathor 2x12) I might as well get the Legacy 800, right?. I guess I could run both cabs together but I have no idea if they would sound good. I know it would be very loud.

Actually, you can run two 4 Ohm cabs together with the Legacy 800, as it can run 2.67 and 2 Ohm loads. It puts out 800 watts into 4, 2.67, or 2 Ohm loads (and 400 watts into an 8 Ohm load). So you could drive two SVT 810 cabs, or two GK Neo 412's, or whatever -- way more air movement than I imagine I'd ever need!
Yes if you were never planning on using both cabs then the extra horse power/dinero would be of no use. However its always nic to have if you ever needed.
I give you an example I started playing an outdoor concert series on a large stage and for that gig I have been using two GK heads and three cabs (two 8 ohm 112 and two 48ohm 2x10) with a 1001RB and a 700rb. I could easily use the same cab compliment but with just one head.
I think the sweet spot for me is going to be the GKL800 though.
Just had the chance to plug mine in and mess with it a bit. For those of you, who like me, felt the MB series wasn't representative of the GK tone you might remember, the Legacy series is what you've been waiting for. So far I really dig it. Very very in your face GK tone. EQ is wide and sensitive, so small adjustments make big changes. Build quality is excellent as to be expected. I'll know more the longer I have it, but I'm not disappointed in the least right now.
