New GK 800 Legacy!

Very cool, do tell more as you play it more.
Yes the MB are not RBs for sure but are still in the GK vein IMO but are defiantly different too. I really don't have a problem with my MBF500 right up until I play my 700RB and then its like damn. Hoping the Legacy sounds more like the RB for sure.

To my ears they sound very very similar with everything set flat.

Tone is very hard to put into words, but I will try:
So I always found the MB series, especially the combos more bass heavy and lacking the in your face aggression that the RB series had/has. So with the Legacy you will find less bass response (when set flat) with more aggressive low and upper mids and a real present treble response. It's the kind of sound that doesn't necessarily sound good practicing at home, but sits in a mix very well. I hope that helps!

Oh yes that is juicy.

Can it get that 700RB at 3/4" on the Master & Boost, 1:00 o'clock on the Gain and everything else at noon GRIND sound?

Cool, thx for that

I do usually roll the bass back a bit on my MB 115ii- I never use the boost knob. I am fan of the clean GK sound if that makes sense. Is the GK “rails” sound all abt the grind?

Also will the legacy do loud and clean GK w the addition of an overdrive circuit
to get dirty if you want?

Taking a closer look at the specs I agree the 800 is the way to go in my books. I won't be running two 4 ohm cabs any time soon.

Also the 500 pushes 300 watts at 4 0hms and you have to go down to 2.7 to get 450 watts.

So that leaves the 800 which will push 800 at 4 ohms AND lower - so you still have flexible options on other cab configurations if you need them.

Makes the most sense to me.

Wait! Just to be clear, the Legacy 800 will comfortably run 2 4-ohm cabs, yes?

That is correct.

It will run 2 ohms, 2.7 ohms, 4 ohms, and 8 ohms.
2 ohms is equal to two 4 ohm loads.
2.7 ohms is equal to three 8 ohm loads or one 4 and one 8 together.

It is rated at 400 watts at 8 ohms and 800 watts at all the other ohm settings.

All you got to do is look at the pic of the back of the head to see this.

So I returned the Fusion 550 with the bum DI and exchanged it for the Legacy 800. It’ll be delivered to my office tomorrow. UPS usually shows up before 11am. Guess I’m working a half day tomorrow.
I’ll post pics and my impressions. I’ll run it through my AK Hathor 212 at home and then Tuesday at rehearsal through my Subway 2x15. We’ve got a gig a week from Saturday in a pretty small room where only vocals go through the PA. Definitely going to use the Legacy for that, just have to decide which cab to use. They could both do the job without breaking a sweat. By the way, we’ll be playing 90’s rock covers.

The wait for new reviews is killing me! However, just by first impressions of the official GK demo, I'm about 99% positive I'll be buying the Legacy 500. My only problem with that is now having to find a buyer for my Fusion 500.
