Anyone seen the combos yet?

Getting a little bit of noise but not sure where it's coming from. When I practice playing through a small cab and running the music from my laptop, that's where I'm getting the noise. It might be the laptop or it might be the lamp I have on the same circuit with adjustable light and colors. I'll need to do some sleuth work here. It does NOT appear when just playing the bass with no music so I've been just assuming it's my laptop.

Run the laptop on its battery, and run an extension cord from another part of the house for the amp. Then trip the breaker for that room and see if the noise abates.

I just checked the noise. When nothing is plugged in - no noise. When just my bass is plugged in - no noise. When my laptop is plugged in - noise. When the laptop is plugged in but the lamp is NOT plugged in the same circuit - noise. Nothing else on the circuit.
Next i turned the MASTER knob up to about noon with nothing but my laptop - noise and loud, but now I hear a clicking noise. The clicks are exactly 60 clicks per minute, as per an internal clock in the laptop. No change with DI in either pre or post, or with the ground switch changed.
So when I practice with music from my laptop, I'm much louder than the noise, so no issue there for me. If I'm just practicing with no music - just my bass - then I will unplug the laptop.
This is my findings from a very unprofessional test. DELL business Precision w/sound card and lots of 'extras.'

Just unplugged it. Noise dropped a LOT but it's still there. 60 second clicks are GONE. My only extension cord is for outdoor trimming and I don't dare bring it into the house!

The lamp is NOT a lava lamp. Thought I'd better get that cleared up! When nothing is plugged in except the cab, it's very quiet. Even when MASTER is turned up to max, it's very quiet. RAG probably knows how quiet it would be so I won't bug him. For now, I'm a happy camper, practicing with my laptop.

Laptop wall wart noise is a thing. Does it still make the noise when the laptop is running on battery?

See above post 545. That did make a difference but the noise was still there. Clock wasn't there when unplugged.

Being mainly a guitar player who’s one’d over 100 pedals, all distortion types add noise. I’m still not sold on distortion on bass for the music I like, but with a pick in a rock band I can see it working. It certainly seems like a parallel circuit, not relinquishing bass and adding the distorted sound.

Here’s my rig for this weekends gig, medium size bar room with 5 piece band, GK Legacy 800 with my Mesa Subway 12, Fender CIJ 62 reissue Pbass, this thing is thunderous OMG!!
