L800 - CX410 - Devon - a healthy does of Envelope Filter (You need to hear this with headphones to hear those lows)
What are you playing there @TonyP- ? It doesn't look like your usual axes.
Sounds great as usual!
Best wishes

I have seen the earlier posts but I’m assuming you tried other basses and other cabinets.I’m in a dilemma. I mentioned the hiss earlier. Its not over powering but it is strong (at home, master on half, Trim almost up). Backing the Trim off reduces this, as expected, but then i cant get any drive using the OD section. I dont think the amp is faulty, the base hiss is the same as with my MB800, but at higher volumes its quite a bit more. Then again, the MB800 doesnt need the gain to be so high.
Strange (to me) design. Maybe I’m missing something.

Erm, are you suggesting with no bass plugged in my bass is somehow transmitting the hiss ;-)Maybe it’s your bass??

Ive had 5 GK products, none have worked properly. First was a small combo decades ago. Distortion on the DI out, more so if the Chorus was on. totally unusable if i wanted ot use Chorus. Next was a 1001RBII. But out more than once at a gig. never found the reason for it. Next was a few years ago with a MB Fusion, very poor quality on the font face panel. Lots of dents and poor welding. Sent it straight back. My current MB800 has had a non working DI from day one (as far as i can see). Had it since 2014. Not a real [problem and it took me 3 years to discover this, and never stopped me from gigging it. GK worst QC ive ever personally seen, but....i love the tone. Not giving up on GK, but very paranoid.A newly introduced GK product not working right straight out of the box? That's a new one.....![]()

I dont think that there is anything wrong, and maybe I’m being too fussy, but i do have the option to exchange it, which i will if tomorrow nights rehearsal shows that i the hiss is noticeable. Lots of posts about these heads and no one really mentions this, so I’m 50/50 that i have a faulty unit, or its normal and no one cares about it.I went through a few MB500 amps when they first came out, none worked until the 3rd try. Plus, most car stereos are built better. I also bought a 2x12 NEO cab from a licensed GK dealer that had no crossover unit in it. That took weeks to get straight.
They lost me years ago. I simply don't have the time to deal with products that consistently ship DOA or seemingly use paying customers as beta testers.

Ive never had any other brand with so many issues, but also none of them have the tone that really appeals to me.
Really not bashing GK as such, just basing my thought on my persona experiences.
Someone else's positive experiences with GK don't invalidate someone else's negative ones. I hear about GK breakdowns, faulty FX loops, and other issues all the time. On the other side of the coin, I've been playing a Sadowsky for over 20 years, never a hiccup. Here on TB, there's like 2 negative experiences with the brand over tens of thousands of posts made over more than ten years. Not the case with GK, and it's not an accident.
And what do your 4 Troll posts on one page have to do with the L800 exactly?
What does your self-appointed moderator status have to do with the L800? At the very least, I was reporting my experiences with new GK releases, which retain legitimacy regardless of whether you agree with them or not.
