Yeah, the input doesn't have much headroom. I posted last week, I was recording with an active Jazz and had the input almost at bottom to avoid the red lights. With the EQ all at noon other than bass bump 1.

Has anyone compared the GK Plex with the Subway DI? Are they complementary, or are different beasts too? Also pros and cons of each other.
Ah ha! I was using my Geddy Lee Jazz (Passive) last night and was able to get the red sharp to come on quite frequently. Not the ring around the input trim. Although I did get that to come on as well but just backed it up a few notches. I was just messing around though I m not entirely sure what my settings were.

Even with the AO2 update the headroom is an issue. With my active basses and pedals in front of the PLEX I get that # symbol way too often. So I have turned the input/clip knob down to about 9:00.
The other very frustrating thing right now is the tuner. It will not read the G string on any of my basses. It quickly flashes G but then alternates between C and A. What gives? The tuner is unusable for G string tuning.

I gave mine a try. No issues tuning the G or any other string. Could your input be set too low?

Nope. Trim at noon. Ken Smith, can't read G. Tobias can't read G. MTD can't read G. Warrior can't read G.
I hate it, but I just sent my Plex back to Sweetwater and swapped for the 2 Notes Le Bass. I wanted to like it but it just doesn't sound as good as the Le bass imo and I am a "pedal board preamp" guy running it straight into amp, the Plex just wasn't good for me and I couldn't find a use for it in a live show setting. I will miss the aux in and phones out though
i got one of these recently. I love the USB function. It is a great sounding preamp for recording. I am not a fan of the distortion at all. It only sounds good on the lower gain settings. The high gain settings sound like ass. I could see this being a great device for and in-ear rig.
I don't know fellas I think I'm starting to like it? I was getting some great tones last night and this morning. I have it going into the effects return of my SWR 350x into a Trace Elliot 2x10. Sounds great with the voicing on 1 for the 800RB sim. Would I like some add on updates? Sure! RAG mentioned being able to save a preset coming soon. That would be cool. I would love to see a cab sim added. I think the best place would be on the high cut knob. Adding a blend or more clean signal to the overdrive would be great too. Although I'm content with the first setting.

Did you download the latest firmware? The tuner on mine seems to work fine with all of my basses.

Brent, does your tuner initially indicate sharpness when you pluck the string and then settle into the actual tone? That's what mine does.
Other than that, mine also works fine on all strings.

I just noticed this now. But my presence knob is malfunctioning. You have to press it harder than the rest to enable the presence. There are also times even when I pushed hard, it is still not enabled. Poor quality control.

Hey, I love mine. It's just a little issue for me, but it bothers me so much.
It's just me being OC. Because if I can find a factory default, it will be very hard to do repairs since I'm from a different country. So this is kinda bad for me.
