New Head: Valkyrie from Baer Amps... Thoughts?

i'm getting itchy. i have been thinking that the valkyrie could be my replacemnet to my M6. i'm happy with the M6 full size head, but looking for something more portable, and a space rack head at half the weight will be fine with me, assuming the sound is there.

i'm also looking forward to how it mates with the ML112. the 112 had lots i liked, but not enough to make me fall head over heels. i'm leaning toward a fEARful 15/6 from AoN for the silly output/weight ratio. maybe the Valkyrie + ML112 will have enough synergy to sway me to all Baer. Roger is an awesome guy, and local, so I want to support that. it will be a little while before i'm gigging again, but i'm getting closer, so a portable rig is on my brain.

Not sure the Valkyrie will be smaller or lighter than the M6, which is actually moderate weight and two rack spaces.

I'll have an AoN 15/6 within the next week or so. Seems like it will be pretty cool. I will primarily be powering it with my Streamliner900, which also sounds fantastic with the ML112 (have a clip up of that comparison).

If you are looking for a micro head with that big, aggressive, bright M6 tone, the GK MB800 would most likely make you quite happy.

True Story.
Loosen the four screws on top, the head is held in sort of a suspension dealio.
It'll slide out..

I like the vintage headcase, myself, but, ti's certainly not light, and, it doesn't provide "ultimate" protection.

Just called Mesa. 4 screws to freedom. Now for CL hunting for a 2 space case. The spec sheet says I go from a 48lb head to a 25lb rack head, then add 10lbs for the SKB for 35lbs vs 48lbs, smaller dimensions, and save buying a new head. Not bad for me, but not so good for the Baer.

The Valkyrie is a 2 space rack mount head, weighing in at about 26lbs. Pretty much exactly what the M6 specs out to be. Heck, the transformer alone comes in at 13lbs.!

Mesa, Ampeg and Ashdown are my favorite bass amps, so our products naturally follow along those lines of design. We have been tinkering with a smaller, lighter weight design, but that's not something that would be finished anytime soon and certainly not this year.

i think the tube gain is going to be a big player in this choice. the M6 is great, but there is no built in fuzzy fun. i dig my MXR Blowtorch, but it would be nice to not have a pedal in the signal chain. and, as i've already mentioned to Roger, the M6 didn't quite feel right with the ML112. but the Valkyrie/ML112 could sway me if they mate the way my ears want.
