You could do it with bass tuners too. A nice Hipshot or similar Y style isn't that big.

It's hard to see but you could use the original bridge this way by just drilling 4 holes for the strings making this a simpler build.

Looks like those used guitar tuners. I see that there is a reissued Kluson banjo/bass tuner available - like on an early Gibson EB bass. Might be a way to go.

I did exactly this on a test mule recently. Works fine.

Getting this thread back on focus

The beheaded fretted/fretless are now dialed in with silly low action and are now #1 & #2 for all playing/gigging.

The fretless has growl and mwah for days

I starting building out the CNC enclosure this weekend, my son and I lifted it out of the box and we both said ‘we’re gonna need a bigger table’

I should be finishing the enclosure (48”x66” enclosure) with front/rear access, acrylic sides (laser safe on the front), lighting, dust collection, retracting mount for the touchscreen display, etc. by next weekend. Once again, building out the tooling takes the majority of the focus time. Hopefully we’ll be prototyping within a couple of weeks if all goes well.

Sloooowww progress, if only I didn’t have all this stuff to do before winter cold comes.

Gonna need some longer cables, then I can cut the sides of the enclosure to insert some acrylic.
