New Ibanez (headless, multiscale)

Got a call from Bass Centre in Melbourne on Thursday saying that they'd been given one (yes 1) EHB1506MS in the next batch, due in June, and did I want to put a deposit on it because they will be in short supply. Price was $A2650 ($US1783) which puts it almost $ for $ with my last Keisel Vader VB6 fantasy build spec, though that was single scale. The Keisel will have $US40 extra for shipping and I'll pay 10% local GST so I'm up for about $300/200 more for it. I hate the look of the burl top, so it looks like Keisel will be getting some of my money later in the year.

I'll keep subscribed to hear new owner's views though.

I've been subbed to this thread since these headless multiscale Ibanez basses intrigue me. I already own a Kiesel Vanquish multiscale 4 string which I love. But for this weekend, Kiesel just dropped a bunch of great promotions and discounts. I ordered a Zeus multiscale today and was able to snag over $500 worth of options for free. It'll probably weigh between 7-8lbs. The promotions last until the end of this Monday. Not trying to hijack the thread or turn people away from the Ibanez. I think they'll be fantastic and I still GAS for one. But I got a great deal on the Kiesel and it's very likely to ship much earlier than the Ibanez. But hey, why not both eventually? :bassist::smug:

I will stay subbed to this thread to see the eventual NBD reports.

I didn’t get the emails. Can you help a brother out?

Yaknow what, I went to Kiesel's website and priced out a headless 6. Even with the chambered option being free this weekend, I had to pick a single piece neck and all the other zero dollar options to get the price below that of the Ibanez 6er. Plus I'd have to ship it to Canada.... that's not a problem you guys in the US face, though. To be fair to Kiesel, they don't have the production scale that Ibanez has and having so many bespoke options will always keep costs higher than an equivalent mass produced instrument.

I really like the Kiesel business model, but I think the only thing I could possibly get from them that I just can't get in production instruments anywhere else is a headless 7 string :)

I asked Keisel some time ago if they would do a 7 and the answer was 'no'. Maybe that has changed...?

Also, I'm out of the loop when it comes to the used Keisel market. If it mimics Carvin, then a used Ibby will probably be worth more.

Ibby has brand recognition and is typically not "custom" so you can find reviews on that exact same model as opposed to one-of-a-kinders that *might* be awesome but would be a hard sell w/o getting to play it first...
