New Ibanez (headless, multiscale)

... I'm a little jealous. You're getting one before the rest of us!! :D

I'm actually going to start producing some bass review videos and will definitely post one of the EHB. I honestly stumbled upon the offer on Reverb. There were about a dozen preorder offers all shipping from April 1 and beyond. A german vendor posted one as available and I instantly jumped on it! Price came out to the same (except I paid 150 extra for express shipping). Hopefully some others come up for sale so others can enjoy the instrument sooner!

I've been wanting to splurge on a bass to help me get my "itch" back, and with all the traveling I'm doing in my new job - this might be it. The fact it fits in a regular guitar gig bag is a huge plus. Might snag up the basic white 4 string!

They have three others in that german store - two 1005s and a 1505. Too bad there's no 6 or I'd be sorely tempted!

They offer a 7 string Zeus headless bass. The used Kiesel market is indeed very different from the old Carvin meme. They don't depreciate anymore than anything else unless the specs are bizarre.

Not necessarily. I just got a Kiesel IC5 with a five piece limba/walnut neck, limba body, zebra wood top, zebra wood fret board and headstock for under a grand used from a local Sam Ash. Priced online with all the specs I could see it would cost almost $2800 shipped to your door. I personally think Sam Ash undervalued it, but in my experience listing used Kiesels at high prices is not the same as selling them at high prices.

Plugged 1005ms and 1505ms in a ampeg pf50t
and I am so surprised by the sound quality.

They shared same preamp which is very usable compared to the old one.
The preamp is as good as what I have Fodera/
Nordstrand/Sadowsky/AC/F.

Both of them sound organic in passive mode which impresse me the most. That's not something I expected from ibanez.

1005ms is a lower model but quality is not low!
Nice satin black finish on the body, can find some glue mark around the seam of the 5pcs neck but I am ok with it.

I can feel ibanez is doing their best to get close to strangberg but without that center edge.
It feels very comfortable.
The 1005ms is slighty better than the 1505ms.. profile is a bit different, might be 9pcs neck need more work and better qc.

Focus B, good punch, noticible hi.
I can get anything that expected from roasted maple neck and board bass. I can find the shadow of a sadowsky 524 in 60s position style.
Overall it feels like a 2k-2.5k rank instruments to me of its sound and feeling.

1505ms looks more hi-end with the top. It's fair as a 1500usd range instrument.
It's more open because of the wood and pickup difference.its good in a different way! More mid, sweet high.
Good for jazz and solo style but can still handle most of the thing with the new pre...
I am ordering a 1506ms and bringing my 1005ms home next week

Here in Italy PU are relatively expensive. It is a non sense to buy a bass of more than 1000€ and than substitue for a lot of money the PU. In my opinion every bass has a sound properly of the entire bass, i'll try 1000EBH and 1500 and than i decide. Obviously if 1000 is lack of sound but aestetically agreable or 1500 is astonishing sound but i look otherwise....

I wonder how Ibanez decided how many to manufacture in this first batch? It sounds challenging to predict demand for a non-boutique headless bass, especially for the multiscale model. I mean, Ibanez can’t exactly extrapolate from their own recent sales figures because they don’t have any. They don’t really have any competitors in this price bracket, either. (Keisel is too small and weird to count, IMO.)

Just test it side by side with my mtd saratoga
The B is just amazing!
