New Ibanez Mode series

Well, this just confirms what I've already seen/heard. Great basses. Love the growl of the pups. Ibanez has a winner with this series.
Had a chance to catch this livestream a few days ago. In my opinion this is the best demo of these basses so far. SUPER in-depth and I like that Ben allows you to hear it being used in a variety of music styles (Monster playing as well). I think Ibanez really nailed it with these basses.

Really nice bass. Build quality is fantastic and playability is incredible. Really an insanely nice bass for the price. The top on this particular one is really top level. The burl and figuring is superb. Two-piece bookmatched front and two-piece back unlike many of these I've seen with 3 piece bodies.
I think I'm going to send it back though. At the end of the day its just not for me. If anybody wants this one message me quickly before I send it back as a return. It's in mint condition obviously.
The one I first played in a store the other day was the solid ash body and that one just speaks to me more. Not sure what it is. Tonally, it strikes me as more vintage sounding. Not sure why that would be... this one is more modern sounding.
The feel and balance is excellent. Ibanez did a really nice job with these.

Before you let it go, can you tell me if the side dot markers are difficult to see in the daytime, without the luminescent dots being charged?
Someone conjectured that the dots may be a similar color to the neck wood making them difficult to see when they are not glowing in the dark.

For the people with the bass in hand, how would you compare it to other ibanez models? Chunkier, lighter, faster,? I've played an sr506 and was in love with the feel, for reference.

FYI: I have just ordered a MDM1605 from L&M in British Columbia, the order guy said it's due to come in sometime during March.
I've never played any Ibanez guitars or basses, there's a bunch of aspects I am not familiar with the Ibanezs, so we'll see how it goes.

Just happened across this video of Eric Gales and Matteo Mancuso, both great guitarists, and I my eye caught the bassplayer and I had to look twice at his axe. Looking closely I realize it was an Ibanez Mode 6, probably the MDM1606. He's not doing very much, just holding down the low end but it was interesting to see it being used in the wild.
It’s a fast player. Jazz bass body style so will probably feel bigger than some of the smaller Ibanez bodies.
I'm almost certain that's Riccardo Oliva, who's worked with Mancuso in the past. Pretty impressive player with killer chops, but also apparently has a real sense knowing when not to play. It looks like he's currently an Ibanez artist, among a couple others (Fbass and Markbass).
LordHar already posted Oliva's demo of the Mode (EDIT: and he has demos of other Ibanez basses on YT), but here's a couple more with him on bass. I really dig the track with Jack Gardiner.

As much as i would like one of these i just can't be in the market for a bass at this price, especially when Ibanez make so many really interesting basses in a similar price range. I really hope they can have a lower line for the $500-$800 range.
If that's your price range, I'd say just go with Cort. So many Ibanezes are built at the Cort factory anyway.

they are labeled premium but made in the Indonesian factory. Apparently, the Indonesian factory is the South Korean company Cor-Tek Corporation.
The Cor-Tek Corporation is one of the world's largest guitar manufacturers and produces instruments for numerous major brands, often focusing on contract manufacturing (OEM) rather than just their own Cort brand. They produce guitars for brands including Ibanez, PRS (SE line), Squier, G&L (Tribute series), Schecter, LTD, and Gretsch in their factories in Indonesia and China.
