New Ibanez multiscale bass VI

Played one of these at GC yesterday. Really impressed, it’s basically everything I’d want from a bass vi. Low end sounded amazing and you can for sure use it as an actual bass. It was super comfortable too. The action was a little high on the higher strings but overall it felt really solid. For the price I thought it was a really solid instrument.

Got to play one at a GC this weekend, and unfortunately the multiscale was throwing me off too much, especially for playing chords. It might be something I'd have to get used to with time, but otherwise it played just as well as the SRC6.

If you don’t mind me asking; which GC location(s) did you play it at?

According to Ibanez website they have already discontinued this bass/guitar.

What a shame! :( Now I wish I just bought it back then and practiced my butt off to get over that multiscale hurdle.

I don't want to disclose the location for privacy's sake, though I will add that the same GC I mentioned no longer had it in stock when I last went in earlier this month.

I think it's still around, it's just that the latest run has some change from the last so they have to update the parts database. It hasn't been removed from the website lineup, at least not on the US site.

Interesting that right before I posted, Sweetwater had 4 of these in stock. Now they’re sold out.

A few weeks ago I purchased one of these locally. Unfortunately, It ended up having a striped/damaged string saddle and wouldn’t intonate correctly. Overall I was really disappointed with the quality of the hardware and also the high noise level of the preamp (it’s an ibanez preamp, not bartolini)

So hopefully they do make some improvements. Overall it was a very comfortable instrument just with the shortcomings listed above.

I can post photos if anyone’s interested.
