Last night I was visiting Ibanez's website.
They've just anounced new models for 2019. These ones are pretty cool (32'', PJ configuration, 22 frets):

  1. I gotta have one!!
  2. Cases or bags available?
  3. I never thought I’d say this, but I wish they offered this bass in three-tone sunburst. I must be delirious or something.
  4. What do you figure these babies weigh?
In one of the video demos of this bass, they made it a point to mention the bass was light. What that means exactly, I don't know. I have to say, the bass is something I'd love to get my hands on and see for myself. I'm looking for a short/medium scale bass and had a Squier SS Jaguar in mind initially, this might be worth a try too.

So, what's the difference between the two models?
Glancing at the Ibanez website, it seems that:
  1. The SRMD200 has a white pearloid pickguard and comes in either Sea Foam Pearl Green or Candy Apple Matte.
  2. The SRMD200K has a black pickguard and comes in Vintage White.
Personally, I’m very drawn to the Vintage White model but I might want to get a tort pickguard for it. I am not normally an Ibanez guy but the medium scale and 12" fingerboard radius are intriguing.

I was also attracted to the vintage white 200K at first, but the more I look at the sea foam pearl green 200 the more I want it.
The contrasts all work, so it should photograph well in all lighting conditions.
At the price, I don't see how I could resist this new model.
Be the first new bass I've bought in many years, having become a pawnshop buyer.
And a medium scale is something I've been wanting to try.

Thanks, I was just wondering, since all the specs apart from pick guard color & body finishes are exactly the same why they didn't make it one model. What the 'K" indicates in the model name. Besides that, for that price, it is almost a no-brainer to pick up.

Yeah it may seem odd since fender, music man and many other manufacturers don’t make different model designations for a small thing like pickguard colors but ibanez does this. SR300EB is the same thing as SR300E but with black hardware and different finishes.
