I 100% agree. I was admiring the headstock of my Ibby acoustic last night thinking the same exact thing.Man, I really wish they would have done the four in line tuner headstock on these..like the older roadsters..
Cool! I hope you like it..I played one at the local long and mcquade.not sure of the exact colour but it was a greyish/blue..vey mellow sparkle to it..I 100% agree. I was admiring the headstock of my Ibby acoustic last night thinking the same exact thing.
I haven’t purchased a bass in years but the gas was too strong on this one. Sea foam is on the way.
Sweetwater lists them as in stock. Seafoam green en route, will be here next week![]()
Does anyone know if the pickup covers are removable/replaceable?
Good to know. I played one at GC the other day and liked it so much I ordered one the same day. Usually I don't find that I prefer Ibanez basses—they tend to feel less like professional instruments and more like toys—but this one really spoke to me. I like the neck profile (just a bit baseball-battish) and the flat fingerboard radius. Is it possible these babies are just a little too lightweight?Just setting mine up with new strings now - J pickup is capable and I assume that the P split should be as well.
I just bought one. Sounds way better than the muddy sounding Mustang which I am very familiar with. It gets very bassy with the active pickups. The demo shows a particular sound to appeal to slap happy bassists and it also does that well enough. The stock strings are bad and need to be replaced. I have evolved into an Ibanez guy and have the SR 500 and another more expensive one. I usually buy used but there aren’t any for this one at a decent price but for 300 new, it’s fine. I love the action, sound, and light weight, I will use for rock and the others for jazz.Hard to know for sure. It wouldn't surprise me if the stock strings were cheap—that could be factor. Then there are the pickups, body wood, and bridge to consider. Yeah, some medium- and short-scale basses can sound different from long-scale basses, but I wonder if that isn’t a psychological thing, i.e., if you didn’t tell someone it was a medium-scale bass, would they be able to detect a difference?

Ibanez should make another 32 inch model with Bartolinis and better appointments. But the most important factor is your amp sound wise.
No battery, no bass. Active only.Quick question about this bass: is there a passive mode - I mean will it play if there's no battery in it?
Just got the cream colored one. Really like this bass for what it is.. It is my first mid scale and I like the feel and the neck. When I ordered my status streamline I got the optional 16.5 mm string spacing but the Ibanez Mezzo has even closer string spacing which I like. As you go down the neck towards the pickups, the Ibanez becomes wider wheres the Status string spacing stays closer. I like the thinner neck on the Ibanez.OK - thanks.
Gave this one to my son and ordered another for myself. Same color.Just got the cream colored one. Really like this bass for what it is.. It is my first mid scale and I like the feel and the neck. Still trying to find a gig bag that fits this Mezzo.
