it's a shame the Short Scale version only comes in the cheapest model.......Why can't they make a Short Scale Prestige......or at least give us a more deluxe Short Scale
Was at a GC to get a Squier Mini for a young nephew just starting to learn guitar. Why there? Because I didn't have time to get it from Amazon and nobody else had them. Asked if they had any of the short scales in. The first two didn't know what I was talking about and the 3rd said they didn't and wouldn't stock them. Hard to get a feel of one without ever seeing one. I've bought sight unseen before, mostly good and some not so, but since it seems that this GC has more Ibanez basses than all others combined figured just maybe.
Agreed, I still have my cream TMB30, but I agree that the quality leaves me wanting. I also had the TMB300 and over time I realized even that model had a tighter fit and finish. My TMB30 now buzzes all over the place and I'm not exactly sure what is buzzing. I don't think its the frets, I had it setup real nice by a tech. It could be the machine heads or bridge. Thinking I'll put Hipshot shiny bit on it to see if that improves things.
All that said, I really do love this bass bone stock. It fits me really well, especially the neck. I actually really like the pups, too. So if this one goes boobies up it would be an easy thing to go get another one.
Probably one of the tuners. When I bought my bass last year, qc wasn't all there as they were rushing them out to the market. Something was buzzing, turned out there was enough of a gap between one of the tuning pegs and the post to cause it to vibrate. Being a scratch and dent special from MF, a replacement tuner wasn't covered by Ibanez but I could still return it to MF for a refund- didn't want to as I got a pretty good discount on it. I ended up trying a low tech solution which was to squeeze some epoxy into the gap to prevent metal from vibrating on metal. This was a stop gap measure until I had a chance to replace the tuners. Funny thing is a year later, it's still perfectly fine even after much usage.
The TMB 600 is far from cheap, too...the finish is top notch, the pickups are quality, and everything about this model sets it firmly with MIM Fenders that cost three to four hundred more and the Sterling Ray 34 that's priced around $700.
I don't know who said it felt cheap but maybe he was playing a TMB 300.
They are great basses. I'm a straight up fender guy, but I like the Ibanez Talman basses. Played a few in one of the local shops. They look great, sound great, and you can find one in a wide range of prices. Here are the stats on one that cost $1500.

The Talman 2000 prestige
Has anyone laid hands on this actual model?
I've watched the video from Chicago music exchange, and the reviewer loved it. It's a special order from the local shop. There are a few online outlets. Anyone have impressions they can share? I've played the 300 and I liked the feel of it quite a bit. Never bought anything from a shop I could'nt grab hold of first.... stupid G.A.S
The Talman series looks gorgeous. I love the headstocks, and inlays. I've never played them though, but would love to.
They're good basses. Well made. The pickups are a bit cheap but that's an easy fix. The rest of it was great.
I wish they'd do that one in a TMB30 style. Those dynamix pickups, while OK, aren't stellar in my opinion. The rest of the bass looks and feels like a steal.
Is there a difference between the 300 and 600 models other than pickups and block inlays? The neck seems to be constructed of the same quality, between the two (absent the inlays)?
On another note. I "rattle-can" painted my pick guard this weekend a metallic gold color. Its not exactly the color I was looking for, but I think it looks better than the original. The pic was not taken in a well lit area, but I think you get the jest. The color matches the gold IBANEZ on the headstock. Anyway, Im digging it so far.

My 300 does have the block inlays as does the 600.
I think the 100s have dot inlays.
Other than that, the quality on mine is every bit as good as the quality of the 600, though I've only played one of each model.
