New Knight Rider?

Yeah, because a 500hp turd that's been polished into what some producer thought people would buy as KITT is better. An overweight, over-hyped Mustang with a Shelby badge. Just like a Dodge SRT-4, let's not forget it's still a Neon.

Forget it. The producers could have used anything but the antithesis of the original Knight Rider's car, and I wouldn't hate on it quite so much. They could have taken a GTO and made body parts for what they think a Trans Am would look like, like Hollywood did with Bumblebee for the Transformers movie, but instead they decided to shill for Ford.

Their loss.

500hp? Whose false information you been reading? That car was tweaked here in Detroit by a performance shop for 720bhp.

You are one seriously jealous Bowtie lover who can't stand that Pontiac no longer produces a real hot rod, and the prototype Camaro is a desperate and poorly executed attempt at rekindling the vintage muscle car look. Sorry about that. Not my fault that Ford can make a car that IS badass, while your precious GM guys still can't get that new Camaro to look like a real competitor, just a fiberglassed up cosmetic wananbe.

But don't worry, you've still got that stale, boring eyesore of a Corvette to keep your hopes up... Heh heh.

Ooooh yeah... look at those performance specs...

WAIT A FREAKIN' MINUTE...

YOU WANT K.I.T.T. TO BE A FOUR-DOOR FAMILY GROCERY GETTER????

You're kidding, right? Please tell me you're kidding??? Turn in your Man Card RIGHT NOW. I can't believe this. This is embarassing. Just as sad as people who think the new Dodge Charger is a manly hot rod. Speeding around town... WITH A BABY SEAT IN THE BACK.

Unbelievable. This Commodore is barely a step up from a Neon. The 1960's are choking to death from wimpyness!!!

What do you know about supercars? Hmm? Have you ever even SAT in a Viper, a Corvette, a vintage Mustang, an original Camaro OR one from the late 80's? Do you OWN anything that's naturally aspirated? Do you own anything more than a fuel-efficient daily driver? Have you ever driven anything until the needle was buried? Have you ever even TOUCHED a vehicle that was older than you are, built when real vehicles were made of METAL, not a bunch of molded plastic and fiberglass? Have you ever parallel-parked your car from the other direction by fishtailing it into place?

Son I live in the Motor City. I've seen vehicles you could only touch on a calendar from Border's. I surround myself with extreme vehicles every summer at car shows that have machines that would intimidate you into a back-tracking puppy. I've put a 1970 Mustang on a Nascar track and buried that pedal on 18-degree banks. I've shamed rice-burners and Neon-tuners. I've experienced TRUE horsepower. I've experienced a 600hp Hemi Cuda jumping up to 80mph in my company's DRIVEWAY! You have no idea what performance is. You have no idea what power is. You've never touched the real deal, hell you've never even been within 50 feet of something that COMMANDS respect and fear! You're 20 years old and don't know crap about crap!

You're nothing but a lot of talk over the internet and have never experienced a true supercar. I've got one parked in my garage, restoring it to original condition and pimping that suspension so that Stang can take some serious abuse. You've never unbolted a carseat from a chassis! So I can't expect you to truly respect or appreciate a real vehicle, just the kiddy-talk that you get from your video games and your magazines showing vehicles you'll never touch. I've already lived through more vehicles than you'll experience in your whole lifetime.

The new K.I.T.T. is a Shelby GT 500 by the way

Almost, not quite. it's a Shelby GT 500 KR. KR was used years ago on the Shelby line - it stands for King of the road. That bit of nomenclature is a blast from the past.

And for those who don't want a Mustang - there AREN'T many other options. If you want to set up the plot with a car that can claim room for more than two people, a pony car works - and the Mustang is the only one in production. There is no Camaro, no Firebird, and the Challenger isn't available yet. The Charger is a 4-door caricature of its former self (when will they wise up and try a 2-door???) so thank heavens, it's out.

Or maybe they should have used a BMW M3?

No chance a German vehicle will represent an American storyline.

And if the full-production Challenger is anywhere near as awesome as the prototype machine, I'd gladly accept it as the new K.I.T.T. But they needed a road-proven chassis that already has plenty of racing/driving experience so they know their stunt drivers would have a trustworthy vehicle.

And no, Dodge will not wisen up and build a true Charger. All they did was take the Chrysler 300 and give it a cosmetic overhaul, to make the Charger. A farce. I know not a single classic car guy who likes the new Charger, especially cuz of the four doors. That includes original Charger owners who still have theirs.

Luckily, the Challenger is its own platform, not just a cosmetic recreation. AND THEY'RE PUTTING A NEW 392 HEMI IN IT!!! Oh gawd, hurry up guys and get it on sale....
