I'm Jake, and I've been playing bass guitar for about a month now. I'm surprised I didn't get into it earlier; it's so much fun to play. I play a Squier P-Bass (beginner's bass, I know) that used to belong to my sister. IF I finally get a job (I've been trying for a while), I plan to buy probably an ESP bass eventually. Someday I want to play fretless bass, too, but that probably won't be until I've played fretted bass for a couple of years or so.

Somehow, I already have a band. Well, it's because I've been friends with them and I listen to similar music. It's a progressive metal band that the guitarist, Jim, started a few of months ago. He's an incredible songwriter - I'm really impressed by what he has written so far. There is also a saxophonist, which adds a bit of diversity, and a keyboardist. We're missing a drummer and a singer, but all that Jim has written so far has been instrumental, and we've been using a spare keyboard as a drum machine.

If you're wondering why I chose a name like "smellythe2nd," I'll explain that. About five years ago, a friend and I were playing StarCraft, which is a multiplayer (online) strategy game. He decided I needed a better username, so he made an account for me called "smellythe2nd." He chose this because he has several accounts including "smelly_hybrid," "thesmellyone," etc. I still play StarCraft on the account "smellythe2nd" to this day, although it has been deleted a couple of times due to inactivity. (I signed up again when it got deleted.)
