i don't own anything from Mesa
i like most of their gear
but I think Mesa is a bit (maybe more than a bit at least in Europe) overpriced

I had one of the rep stories, so I will reply. The rep for my region lives more than 3 hours from where I do. We talk by phone and email mostly. All I had initially, was his word about the product that was coming. It wasn't in his hands yet, either. He's a great guy, so I don't have a problem with believing him. I don't care to make the drive anyway. The Greater Southwest Guitar Show is in town next month, and he's bringing one of each to the show.

There's a picture of the Bass Prodigy floating around now on TB somewhere. If that doesn't work, you can always come to Dallas and take your own pictures of them, or you can be patient for the release date, whenever that is...like the rest of us.

Update:

I just got an email saying that the new tube heads will not make it to the Dallas Guitar Show.

They are still doing "fine tuning" on them.

I'm pretty disappointed right now, because I really, really want to try these out.
The local store that I buy my Mesa gear through still has an order in for a Prodigy for me. I was hoping to give one a full run-through before mine comes in...

I also gotta admit I am kind of unexcited by the looks of the amps. A lot like the Transatlantic line of guitar amps. However we don't get the benefit of "British" voicing or even multiple channels.

Where do you get your Mesa gear from? The reps used to hang out with Larry Morgan Music at the Dallas shows.

to say "This is one reason I think Mesa equipment is generally not worth the money" is quite different than saying "I think Mesa is a bit (maybe more than a bit at least in Europe) overpriced".

Our non-US brother bass players have long lamented the Mesa pricing policy outside of the US. This is totally understandable if you want a fine piece of Mesa bass gear and can't afford it. OTOH, to offer an opinion of value for the money, without any direct experience with the gear in question, seems like a pretty empty opinion (thus odd, in my view) in a pro-Mesa thread.

maybe BMW or Mercedes
I could afford it
but i stick with my Orange and Bergantino and I'm happy
Still I like mesa gear

FWIW, I asked my local dealer over the weekend about these amps. He spoke to a Mesa rep the other day, and came away without a time frame in which he'll see one; they're supposedly still fine-tuning them.

but Orange 200ad is sure a bit overpriced in EU and a lot in US


By the way, as stated by Derekale, the Mesa prodigy is now on thomann.de at 1899 euros Vs 1635 of Orange 200ad and 1735 of Fender 100T: all of them seem too much pricey to me
Still Mesa is the highest
But to be honest, the all valve heads prices have rised a lot in the last year and now this mesa heads are quite in line with the others (on the top of the line...)

Well Mesa may cost more than some other brands. But then none of their amps or cabs are made in China, Korea or Indonesia. All are made in Petaluma CA, which is not the cheapest town to live in. It is just over the hill from Marin!
