The blue light is definitely gimmicky. But I guess it comes back to what I said earlier, if it sounds awesome, that's the most important thing.

It's one thing to have a useless gimmick that jacks up the price, or effects the functionality of the amp, and it's something different to enhance the appearance of your amp. This looks to me to be an appearance thing, which I like. Now, it would be different in a rackmount head, for sure. But this is something that you're going to stack on top of a cab or two, and your audience will see.

Genz Benz peavey @ now Mesa Boogie with blue light . Maybe its marketing ? I half to say it seems Mesa has been slow to release these new amps . Lets face it we all know old school players will test these new amps against a svt or Mesas own 400 plus . I know i have been shopping for a while for a new tube amp . Looked at hybrids and thats not a option . My svt is 85 pounds and not fun to haul around . It seems Mesa has taken there time on this . I just want something that sounds good and is all tube and and lighter to haul around . Kudos to Mesa in 2012 in an era where every other amp seems to be a micro . Looking foward to trying one .

I'm not a fan of the "lunchbox" styling (for either their bass or guitar heads), and the blue glow gets a big "no thanks" from me. In comparison, my Buster head simply oozes with understated class.

Then again, perhaps my lukewarm reception for these amps is my own fault: my Walkabout Scout (+ extension) has absolutely cured me of GAS for the foreseeable future.

I wonder if you could change out the bulbs and change the color of that glow. A nice amber would be cool. I like lights in amps a lot, but even though they do make it easier to see pedal indicators on an outdoor stage in the daytime, blue LED's just suck the life out of me.

Not that I'm considering it Just thinking out loud.

The Bass 400/400+ is only 47 lbs and can be carried with one hand. They are also easy to find.

I'd be curious to try these out, but I seriously doubt that either of these will replace my Buster! Bright but full sounding and super clean unless cranked (then it's awesome town). Takes pedals like a champ too. Also not $1500-2500.

This... and frankly a Buster + Diesel 215 = configuration pulllenty loud!

Nice. I like the look of the big'un better than the Prodigy. The cabs look cool, I just expect them to be brutally heavy with ceramic drivers.
