new mesa all tube amp ?????

Well, first off that round thing you see is a tweeter, not a port. Regarding the three triangular ports, Mesa has this to say:

Tri-Ported Design – An innovative front facing, multi-vent porting system that uses individually tuned triangular ports to enhance each part of the bass spectrum. This goes way beyond the old standard design that has all your tone blowing out of one large port hole!

I agree. Their recent track record of reliabilty for the Carbines and Titan is substantially less than stellar, and they seem to have worked out the bugs over the initial couple of years after release. I'll wait at least a year before considering one of their new products, even if the GAS brings me to the bursting point.

IMO, it was inexcusable that it would take them anywhere near even a year to work bugs out.

Mesa products carry quite the price tag premium..... you should be rewarded with your new purchase not with downtime! Work it out before you release it! This is one reason I think Mesa equipment is generally not worth the money

I hear you and somewhat agree, but I love the sound, form factor, esthetics and handmade in the USA aspect so much that I remain a loyal customer. I also love the fact that their warranty is transferrable, and that you can send your product back for revisions/updates which are even performed at no charge if within the 1st 5 years. Mesa has its' shortcomings, but as with most things in life, it's "complicated" and not all black or white.

I am 100% with you on this. I have been buying Mesa gear for decades. Of course, part of the reason is that I live near Petaluma and highly value the ability to drive my gear to the factory for repair or upgrades (they often do overnight turnaround for me). And it doesn't hurt that I love the sound of mesa gear.

I will be considering one of their new design cabs... but, not the amps. At least not for a while as my amplification needs are being superbly met by my Buster 200.

I have been very vocal to many people about how my original M9 was garbage. It was. Embarrassing quality for a $1500 amp. If it didn't sound so good, I would have given up with Mesa gear for life.

My new M9 is killer sounding (as was the original one besides not working) and over 5-6 months it has worked flawlessly.

In any case, I have approx $3,000 tied up in Mesa gear i gig with.... It SHOULD work flawlessly for the $$$.

P.S. I am just about to pull the trigger on a Mesa guitar amp as well. I play a bit of guitar and am sold on how the guitar amps sound as well.

This is kind of a funny thing to post in a Mesa oriented thread. If you feel this way, why do you continue to own Mesa gear ?

I was unaware that Mesa had a significant quality issue with any of their recent bass amps (Titan, M9). Even here on TB, where the focus on bad unit quality, and poor CS is laser sharp, all I can recall is a few folks having some bad experiences, which can/will happen with any manufactured item. OTOH, it seems the more common experience is that Mesa build quality is quite high, their CS reputation is pretty stellar, and they back their gear with such strong warranties, it's hard to imagine them putting out many bad units of anything.

as to your personal opinion on the value of Mesa gear for the money - I'm guessing you won't get much traction in this thread on that position.

FWIW, I have a 5 year old WA 12 that has been gigged hard, I and have never experienced an issue with it. Also have owned a Venture 2x12, a Buster head, a Scout 1x12 ext cab and a Scout 1x15 ext cab - none of which exhibited anything but great performance. I also never felt that I did not get great value for the money I paid for all that Mesa gear.

3 individually tuned ports for a single speaker? Really? 3 tuned frequencies in one box?

Whoever said I owned anything made by Mesa? I have tossed around the Idea of picking up a M-9 however....

ah, well then, I must have made a bad inference from your post. My mistake. Still, your value for the money comment is still kind of a funny thing to say in an obviously pro-Mesa thread (new Mesa all tube amp).

perhaps you would understand what we happy Mesa users understand about the value of Mesa gear if you did own some.

just sayin'
