new mesa all tube amp ?????

I've owned and gigged several Mesa amps. My first was a Titan V12 thru a pair of Diesel 410s :), then a 400+ with same cabs :D, then an M6 thru a Diesel 15 :hmm:, and now I've finally settled on an M2000 combo'd in a 212 cab :p. I loved the 400+, even with all it's shortfalls. It about killed me to sell it, but in a single income home with three kids ages 4 and under and a mortgage, I can't afford the upkeep of an all tube head, or so my wife has me convinced. Notice how each Mesa rig is smaller than the last. :eyebrow:

Maybe, in like 20 years, I can try one of these new amps, if my back is still able to pick one up. I'm loving this "tilt back and roll my entire rig" thing I got goin' on right now. I can load in and out in a single trip. :D

The M2000 isn't as warm and huge sounding as an all tube, but it's a helluva lot closer to 'tube tone' than just about evey other hybrid I've tried, including Mesa's other simulclass amps. And the M2000 has more knobs, buttons, and switches than a 24 channel recording board. It's a tone tweaker's wet dream.

:confused: Did I miss something? I've gone through this thread twice and haven't seen a single pic. Just the same link over and over for some internet music store in WI that has a brief description that could have been typed up by a cracked out employee. Other than that, it's been nothing but rumor, speculation, and second hand 'I heard it from my Mesa guy' stories.

TB rules: No pic, no amp!


If this Mesa rep is out gigging this amp, GO TO A GIG AND GET A PIC OF THE THING ALREADY!

I shoulda bought a Sadowsky SA200 when I could have, apparently it's the only tube amp that's ever going to have been designed closely to what I would actually want.

60 tube watts for bass is just laughable, to me.

After playing through the SA-200 while visiting Sadowsky in 2010, I too wish I had one of those. It was literally the perfect tone to me.

Been down the 400+ track, reliable as hell but not my sound. Doesn't seem like they are coming up with anything new here - not dissing the brand for which I have considerable respect but why couldn't they be like the Fender 100T and present something that is new and just a little radical with its featires? And Ampeg will always have the 300 watt stadium amp covered.
I just have been waiting a while for this and expected more from one of my more admired manufacturers.

The 300/150/60 watt option is a good idea, but what is the weight on the big one? Not much point in gigging it at 60 or 150 watts if it weighs the same as an SVT, but would be handy for recording no doubt.
Not in stock but special order with delivery time open??? Surely they should have enough confidence in their product to have at least a few ready and waiting?
A bit disappointed to see that they are still fixed bias and actually trumpeting this as a feature. Makes it a pain in the a*** to change tubes and locks you into their brand, unless you go through the hassle of getting a tech to fit adjustable bias as some of us did with the old 400+.

I had one of the rep stories, so I will reply. The rep for my region lives more than 3 hours from where I do. We talk by phone and email mostly. All I had initially, was his word about the product that was coming. It wasn't in his hands yet, either. He's a great guy, so I don't have a problem with believing him. I don't care to make the drive anyway. The Greater Southwest Guitar Show is in town next month, and he's bringing one of each to the show.

There's a picture of the Bass Prodigy floating around now on TB somewhere. If that doesn't work, you can always come to Dallas and take your own pictures of them, or you can be patient for the release date, whenever that is...like the rest of us.

The idea is to take the pain in the a*** away... and it works great.
Our guitarplayer had a failing tube during the soundcheck at our last gig, ugly sight (almost melting tube, smoke coming from amp, awful smell etc) All he had to do is change the failing pair and he was ready to go without a pain in the *** bias procedure.

The pain in the a*** is that with fixed bias you are locked into using Mesa tubes, and at their bias settings. I seem to recall from a few years ago when I had a 400+ that the Mesa factory setting could be improved upon(a tad cold was it?), the Mesa sourced valves at the time were not necessary optimum and that the tone of the head was considerably improved with adjustable bias and better valves. In the 400's day there were mega threads on this as many of us will recall. It became quite a common mod. Either way, as a user I would like to have the flexibility and freedom of selecting tubes which suit me and not be dictated to by the factory.
