New mesa subway amps and cabs!

Radial has 3 levels of AB/Y last I looked. This unit here ^ is MUCH better than the entry/cheapest (Hotshot) one, I've owned both.

I use the Radial Bigshot I/O to switch between my Jazz and Ricky into the Radial Bigshot A/B/Y for the two amp heads . Both are reasonably priced, solid and do the job ..They're true by-pass pedals so they don't add anything to the original tones..just switch , the I/O has a volume in one channel to compensate for an active AND a passive . They work great for me..

A brief message about how well the WD-800 plays with non-Mesa cabs (cross posted from the MAS Bodai thread).
I brought my MAS B28 and M 1,8, with the Mesa WD-800, to last night's gig, a set at the Zayante Hoedown. It wasn't a super high volume gig so took a page from @golfnsubie and just used the 1,8 as a passive radiator.
Sounded freakin' great. There was a jam happening after our set, and I left my rig for others to use.
One of the bassists (who had also been mixing sound all night) came up afterward and said
"Man, your rig sounds great! My Jazz bass has never sounded that good! I don't get that sound with my Ampeg or GK gear. Fat low end, lots of snap on top, no midrange honkiness. "

I tend to have the passive mids up for my tone, but the next guys wanted it darker. Dialed back the passive mids, and there it was.

man, it took me a min to see that you use a stand for your bass ... could NOT figure out how you were moving and the bass was not. :laugh:

Yes, tell us about the bass stand. I've got neck problems and have been thinking of some way of being able to continue playing without hanging a bass around said neck.
Btw, it was bad ass boys :)

The stand is an Mbrace (www.mbracestand.com).
I had trashed disks in my neck (car accident, boxing) and finally (2011) had to have 3 vertebrae fused. The first 6 weeks of recovery I was not supposed to lift more than 5 lbs.
Any bass I have weighs more than 5 lbs... and I thought "dang, I'm not going to not play for 6 weeks!". I was going to have a friend make something, then found the Mbrace.
I thought I'd use it for my recovery and that would be that.
I never went back to playing with a strap. The stand makes the weight of the bass completely irrelevant. I love it.

There are two things that you have to get used to.
One, as you notice, the bass doesn't move with you.
Two, the angle is fixed - you can't' change it on the fly. That's a bit odd. I actually did a mod on mine to allow me to do that. There's a thread about it somewhere here.
It's not for everyone. But it sure works for me.

I can get used to that. I used to play my upright on my lap, an old hawaiian thing.
Now I kinda lay it on a chair and stand behind it like playing an electric and more like what you are doing, as the upright is stationary also.

Thanks! I wrote that tune shortly after starting to play with those guys. Good situations inspire me :D

I appear to have my First issue with my WD800 since its purchase in January. The O/D LED has stopped working. Luckily I do not "need" this light but it was handy for dialing the right amount of break up. Any one else have an issue similar to this yet? I had it set were it was consistently flashing during hard play and off on softer parts. Now its completely gone no matter how high I turn up the input gain and tried different basses. Limit LED still works which is the important one tho. On the bright side i don't have to watch the OD light flashing at me any more??!

sorry to hear this. If you contact Mesa, I'm sure they will do their usual high quality job of customer service and get your WD working as new again. Small matter as you say, but still it's good to have your gear work as it should.

Customer service will take care of you. It might be as simple as a connector not being fully seated. You can PM me and I will walk you through it.

@agedhorse might give you the best answer. I haven't found a situation where I want to turn it off. I could guess if you're going from a passive P bass with the para eq on, then switch basses to something active with a great onboard preamp you could turn it off if you're controlling more EQ off of the bass itself. I'll have to test that now...:bassist:

The eq bypass footswitch function is for the parametric section, not the passive mid eq.

It's use is to preset an alternate tone (such as perhaps a lead/solo tone) that can be footswitched in and out.
